Extractions: Regional Group of the The Edinburgh Immunology Group provides a forum for scientists in the Edinburgh area with interests in immunology. We organize seminars on topics of current immunological interest and circulate information on local research and jobs in immunology. We meet every few weeks during academic terms for seminars given by leading research immunologists and informal discussions over wine. Our meetings are open to anyone interested in immunology. However, the continued success of the Group depends on postgraduate student members and those who are staff in paid, full time employment making a voluntary annual contribution to its running costs. Subscribers receive Email notification of the Group's meetings and other relevant local seminars and news. Activities of the Group are organized by a committee made up of representatives from most sites at the universities, hospitals and institutes in the Edinburgh area. If you have any suggestions for future activities please contact the Secretary

SUMMER 2005 Research Assistant Recommendation Form Master of Science The Department of Biology has two master of science degrees: 1) MS in Biology (general) and 2) MS in Biology with an emphasis on conservation. The general biology MS is designed to prepare students for careers in all areas of biology. The conservation biology MS is designed to prepare students for careers with state and federal agencies or non-governmental organizations. The Department of Biology offers both the Plan A and the Plan B Master of Science degree. Plan A requires completion of six credit hours in BIO 798 (Thesis), one credit hour in BIO 730 (Seminar), 23 hours of graduate course work approved by the student's adviser and advisory committee, and an oral defense of the thesis. Plan A is recommended to those students preparing for research-oriented careers or for doctoral study. Plan B requires the completion of 36 credit hours of graduate-level course work approved by the student's adviser and advisory committee and a written and/or oral comprehensive examination over the course work. Admission Requirements To be eligible for Regular Admission to the graduate program in biology, applicants should have:

Extractions: The Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cell Biology is well funded and nationally recognized with an active and diverse biomedical research program. The mission of the department is to provide excellence in education, research, and service to the students of West Virginia University. The overall strength of the department and its previous highly successful graduate program make this an ideal place for the graduate program in Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis. The major objective of graduate education in the Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis Graduate Program is research training. To achieve this purpose, students are grounded with a strong foundation in basic concepts of microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, and immunology and allowed flexibility in choosing advanced coursework in their specific areas of interest. Our faculty research interests are diverse. Advancing knowledge that improves human health and the quality of life is the ultimate goal of each investigator. Faculty research interests include studies in molecular mechanisms of microbial pathogenesis and immunity, cell biology, and immunology. The department offers many opportunities to conduct groundbreaking research in these fields in a collaborative, stimulating environment.

Center For Cancer Research Nanobiology Program (CCRNP) Theoretical and experimental work in areas such as macromolecular structure and function; membrane structure and function; immunology; phamacokinetics and computational and modeling methodology. Staff photos and biographies, and an overview of current projects are highlighted. http://www-lecb.ncifcrf.gov/
Extractions: The activities of the Center for Cancer Research Nanobiology Program (CCRNP) fall into several broad areas: macromolecular structure and function; membrane structure and function; immunology; phamacokinetics and computational and modeling methodology. The work is both theoretical and experimental. Application of theoretical understanding to these biological systems is accomplished through the use of advanced computing. Many of the theoretical studies are possible only through use of the supercomputing facilities at the Advanced Biomedical Computing Center, NCI-Frederick. Note the name of the lab has been changed as of August 1, 2005 from Laboratory of Computational and Experimental Biology (LECB) to Center for Cancer Research Nanobiology Program (CCRNP). Robert P.
