Extractions: Moscow Junior High School, Moscow NEWS LESSON PLANS AND DIGITAL IMAGES LINKS (Resources for earth science education) The Idaho Earth Science Teachers Association (IESTA) has formed interactive partnerships with the triad of education, government, and industry. The products of these partnerships include programs and training in Idaho earth science, and the development, testing and distribution of classroom materials, student activities, and field trip guides. In the summer of 1992 a small group of Idaho teachers, in cooperation with the Idaho Geological Survey, began an Annual Summer Field Trip and Conference for the IESTA. Since then the event has grown to the point that typically 50 people attend the field conference each year. This week-long event includes geology and mining field trips, exercises, classroom materials, and the development of student activities by participants. For the past several years the Idaho Bureau of Disaster Services, through a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has co-sponsored the workshop to provide training in geologic hazard awareness and education. Where possible, companies have provided tours, campgrounds, and talks by specialists. In 1997, the IESTA cooperated with the National Energy Foundation to include materials and instruction from the Out of the Rock educational program.
