The issue of excluding undocumented workers from full [labor] protection[s] of their labor rights stems from a controversial U.S. Supreme Court ruling in March 2002. Introduction The world has been awed by China's rapid economic development, labeling it "the latest Asian miracle." Some writers predict it will be the world's biggest economy in the next century. However, they generally do not mention that millions of ordinary people, mostly workers and peasants, will not be able to take advantage of this economic boom. The problem goes beyond workers not getting their share of the pie. Arguably more troubling is the fact that the fundamental labor rights of increasing numbers of workers are being seriously violated, in breach of the People's Republic of China's first-ever Labor Law of early 1995. [End Page 886] Human rights literature usually does not mention labor rights or, if a link is drawn on paper, the reference is normally to "labor rights and human rights"the underlying assumption being that labor rights are not subsumed under human rights. Evidence is presented in this article to show that labor rights are indeed a form of human rights

Extractions: VI.CONCLUSION The history of Northern Ireland as a distinct polity began in 1921 when the six counties of the north of Ireland were partitioned from the twenty-six counties of the south. The seventy-seven years that followed this initial partition saw what is commonly referred to as "The Troubles," a term that masks a state of affairs tantamount to civil war. The Troubles produced a wide range of civil and human rights violations at the hands of state actors as well as state collusion with paramilitaries. Violations included verbal abuses and threats, torture and cruel punishment, systematic violations of the right to fair trial and other issues of justice, and finally a considerable number of violations of the right to life. This paper was originally produced in 1992, prior to the INTERNET and the explosion of information it has engendered. This paper is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to information on indigenous people. It is meant to be a guide to researching international law and indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities rights. This paper was originally delivered as part of a program on indigenous peoples rights. Other speakers, Professor George S. Grossman , and Professor Kirke Kickingbird , covered American Indians. Because of that, this paper's coverage of American Indians is limited. In 1996, Professor
