OCD CENTER OF LOS ANGELES - OCD Therapy/Support Groups Three weekly therapy/support groups. Sessions for teens with OCD, adults with OCD, and adults with compulsive skin picking and hair pulling. http://www.ocdla.com/OCDtherapygroups.html
Extractions: ADULTS WITH COMPULSIVE SKIN PICKING In addition to individual therapy, the OCD Center of Los Angeles offers three weekly therapy/support groups. One group is for adults with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) who have not had experience with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). A second group is limited to individuals with OCD who have completed a course of CBT. We also offer a weekly group for adults with Compulsive Hair Pulling (Trichotillomania) and Compulsive Skin Picking (Dermatillomania). Below is information on each group. NEW Introductory OCD Therapy/Support Group for Adults - Starting March 2005 The OCD Center of Los Angeles is starting a new weekly group specifically for adults with OCD who have not been treated with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The group will provide a structured format focusing on a highly specialized type of CBT known as "Exposure and Response Prevention" (ERP). This therapy has been extensively researched, and has consistently been found to be the most effective treatment for OCD. The primary goal of this group will be to provide a venue in which group members can do the exposure assignments that are the foundation of CBT. Research has shown that group Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy can be extremely helpful in the treatment of OCD. Quite often, people with OCD have never met another person with the disorder, and feel extremely isolated due to the secretive nature of their obsessions and compulsions. This group will provide a safe and supportive environment in which people can address their symptoms with others who are also working to overcome OCD. Group sessions will include individual members tackling specific OCD symptoms that have been particularly problematic. Group members will discover that trying new, more productive strategies for coping with OCD is often easier with the support of other group members who know just how difficult it is to face one's fears.
A Psychoeducational Web Site Resources, links, and support groups regarding psychological development, mental health disorders, and other mental health issues. http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Shores/6052/allfiles.html
Extractions: Welcome to my site. It is my personal goal to make this a knowledge bank of information while, at the same time, provide you with a support system unlike any you have ever encountered before. While I do not have my M.D. degree, nor am I a psychiatrist, I do have my M.A. in psychological counseling. While there are some things I cannot offer, I can offer you what I've already learned from my textbooks, my experience, my intuition, and the information that I've obtained off the net. I'd also like to make you aware that your wise friends and relatives (as well meaning as they may be) are not doctors either. Only you and your doctor can determine the best customized treatment plan for you. I hope that this site can help you better understand this illness and please remember that the information that you find on this site is only intended as an aid to understand and/or come to terms with your diagnosis. The first step on the path to psychological growth is to obtain a correct diagnosis. This point cannot be stressed enough with regard to this important issue.

Extractions: Rob Wirick and Mark Slade SURVIVORS ROAD2HEALING is a nonprofit Christian support organization for those that have felt the devastation of suicide. We're here for those that are groping their way through the pain of being left behind, to help them work through issues of guilt, God, anger, etc. We'll help you find hope for a future again, and reclaim your life. Although there are now many organizations striving to make a difference with Suicide Prevention issues, (thank God for them!) there is still very little to help a grieving, struggling survivor. Survivors Road2healing is here for the sole purpose of helping Survivors heal and reclaim their lives. We work with local Police Departments, and community organizations and plan to have offices nationwide in the next few years. Survivors will be able to walk in and get FREE counseling and peer support, as well as online help in our private chatrooms. Please take a minute and seriously consider a donation to help make this happen. No one knows the need for this like us survivors do!! You can read more about our plans at
