Hockey Heritage North - Kirkland Lake, Ontario - Player Bios hockey Heritage North is an 18000 square foot interactive museum being built in as assistant general manager and director of player development. http://www.hockeyheritagenorth.ca/players/TAYLOR-Dave-Bio.html
Extractions: The Ontario native attended Clarkson College in Potsdam, New York. Following his first year, he was selected 210th overall by the Kings in the 1975 Amateur Draft. During his last year of eligibility in 1976-77, his goals, assists and point totals of 41-67-108 led the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. It appeared that the Kings had been quite astute two years earlier. The hard-working winger was named an NCAA all-American and the ECAC player of the year. Taylor burst onto the NHL scene with a 22-goal performance in 1977-78. The next year he exploded with 43 goals, and the following season he was teamed with Marcel Dionne and Charlie Simmer on the Triple Crown Line. This unit was among the best in the league and Taylor was arguably the best two-way player of the three. In addition to being the lines defensive conscience, he was the grinder who fended off the toughest checkers on the opposing team. On February 5, 1991, he registered his 1,000th point at the Philadelphia Spectrum. Following the season, the soft-spoken wingers involvement in the community was also lauded and in 1990-91 he was presented with both the Bill Masterton and the King Clancy awards. In his 16th NHL season in 1992-93, Taylor finally reached the Stanley Cup finals, where the Kings lost to the Montreal Canadiens. He played 33 games in 1993-94, then retired after the Kings failed to make the playoffs.
Hockey Heritage North - Kirkland Lake, Ontario - Player Bios the story of hockey in the region that produces some of the best players in Bastien returned to Pittsburgh in 1977 when he made the Penguins general http://www.hockeyheritagenorth.ca/players/BASTIEN-Baz-Bio.html
Extractions: BASTIEN, Baz Baz Bastien was a promising Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender whose career was ended when he was hit in the eye on the first day of training camp in 1949. Bastien had arrived in Toronto in 1940 from Timmins to play for the Marlies. Bastien won the OHA title for the Marlies in 1941 before spending three years in the Canadian army. When he returned he made his NHL debut on opening night of the 1945-46 season for the Maple Leafs. He lasted five games before being sent to the Pittsburgh Hornets in the AHL, where he played for the next four years, the victim of Turk Broda's playoff heroics in the Toronto net. Bastien lost sight in his eye after it was hit directly by a puck, the third or fourth he faced at the team's first practice in Welland, Ontario. He stayed with the Hornet organization, becoming the head coach in 1950 and winning three AHL championships with the team. After running AHL franchises in Hershey and again in Pittsburgh, he served for ten years as Sid Abel's assistant general manager in Kansas City and in Detroit with the Red Wings. Bastien returned to Pittsburgh in 1977 when he made the Penguins general manager. Six years later, Bastien, on his way home from a dinner sponsored by the Penguins, was driving 80 m.ph. and had a blood-alcohol level of .26 the states legal limit was .1 when his car rammed a motorcycle carrying two people, both of whom miraculously escaped serious injuries. Bastien died half an hour after the early-morning crash, succumbing to a combination of a fractured skull and a heart attack.
A Conversation With Ronald Caron: June 5, 1999 Ronald Caron, the longtime St. Louis Blues general manager, currently serves asthe team s StLSO I m looking at player bios in the hockey Guide. http://www.stlsports.com/articles/mb.6.5.99.caronqanda.html
Extractions: posted June 7, 1999 As Dallas Star Brett Hull prepares for the Stanley Cup finals, the man who brought him to St. Louis talks about Hull's acquisition and anything else that comes to mind... Ronald Caron, the long-time St. Louis Blues general manager, currently serves as the team's senior advisor. Which means that he is no longer in charge of the team's day-to-day operations, a role ably filled by Larry Pleau. But "The Professor" still scouts a bit, and, thankfully, still makes media appearances. The following conversation took place on June 4, 1999, the day after Brett Hull and the Dallas Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche and advanced to the Stanley Cup's final round vs. the Buffalo Sabres. To say that Caron, who still bleeds Blue, seemed pleased that Brett Hull was one step closer to a championship is putting it mildly. You the reader can judge for yourself. StLSO : Good morning, Mr. Caron.
Extractions: General Manager Bob Clarke, the ultimate Flyer, is one of the greatest players in the history of the National Hockey League. Hockey never seemed like labor to him, and for fifteen seasons Clarke forged that passion upon the team. The Philadelphia Flyers rose to the top of the NHL in 1973-74 and 1974-75 and remained a winner through Clarkes career because nothing was more important to Clarke than his next shift. He relentlessly blocked everything else out. Big leads, hopeless deficits, January road games in half-empty arenas, illness, injuries, fatigue and personal problems were mere excuses to Clarke once the puck was dropped. He was an excellent player, but human. It was his will that bordered on the supernatural. Upon his retirement following the 1983-84 season, Clarke was fourth on the NHLs all-time assist list with 852, and its eleventh all-time leading scorer with 1,210 points. On Bobby Clarke Night, November 15, 1984, the fans at the Spectrum stood for more than four minutes cheering the greatest Flyer of them all. Bobby Clarke gave of himself to a degree as great as any athlete in the history of sport. He was named as The Sporting News and The Hockey News Executive of the Year for the 1994-95 season after the Flyers advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals and captured the Atlantic Division Championship. He became the first executive to win The Hockey News award in consecutive years with two different teams - the Florida Panthers in 1994 and the Philadelphia Flyers in 1995. By capturing the award, he became the first to win the Sporting News awards as rookie, player and executive.
