But do make your class as academic as you can. If they think it's an easy A they'll blow it off and talk non-stop. I begin the class with teaching them about the voice, what the instrument can do, what ranges are, where they are in this voice change thing since in MS it's all about them. For the first six weeks of a 45 minute class I spend about 25 to 30 minutes on various activites designed to teach them to read music since I believe that once they know how to read they can learn music soooo much faster. I use the Jenson Sight Singing course as well as unison songs, canons, rhythm cards and games, warmups, lectures on vocal health, theory worksheets, and peppy songs. I give them a choice of several songs to learn. I also tell them that if they heard it on the radio we won't be singing it. That would be like teaching People magazine in and Enlish Lit. class. I test them on anything covered in class, expecially sight singing. I have them go into a practice room and record an exercise from the book that we've practiced. But also paper and pencil tests on melodic and rhythmic dictation, history, theory, and vocab.

PRIVATIZATION To date, the only examples of privatization at Queen's are the MBA programs in the School of Business Finally, we raise some general questions which should be addressed whenever privatized programs are being considered. What criteria are used to decide the costs borne by the University and the privatized program when financial jurisdictions overlap? Whose responsibility is it to audit and monitor the financial reporting to ensure that these costs are being allocated appropriately? What are the net benefits to the faculty/university of the privatized program? What implications does privatization have for the quality of the educational program and the maintenance of academic standards? 2. TUITION POLICY
