I can only imagine how difficult it must be to come a completely new and strange country and not be completely familiar with the lanuage there. So I was just curious: how well do your spean English? Fluently? Not at all? Just wondering.. BigLew 10-21-2004, 08:36 AM Very well, it's the only language they speak. hooligan 10-21-2004, 09:17 AM Not very well, I edit their letters for them. 10-21-2004, 09:36 AM My mom is soo cute! She has this funny accent...but she's so warm and friendly...a lot of the older Asian people in the NoVA area have accents...you get used to it. Like, the Dunkin Donuts I got to some mornings (saay...if I haven't overslept and traffic isn't the bitch it normally is)...the Korean lady doesn't understand my order but if I point and speak slowly...sometimes, she gets the donut right on the first try!!!!! Ohhhh yeah. moJo 10-21-2004, 09:55 AM

Extractions: The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. PART TWO Babble: A Synoptic Text Viewer PART THREE PART FOUR The Life of Adam and Eve is an apocryphal story about the experience of the first human couple after their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Of the numerous apocryphal works that were written regarding Adam and Eve in the ancient world, this text certainly has pride of place. Not only was its influence in antiquity quite evident and widespread but the tale also enjoyed enormous popularity in the medieval world as well. The text has proven very difficult to date and one can be no more accurate than to say it must have been composed between the 3rd and 7th centuries. It is quite possible of course that certain literary units of the work are considerably older than this as there can be no question that the present form of the work is the result of a complex redactional process that wove together different source materials into a single story. Equally problematic is the question of the work's provenance. Most scholars have assumed a Jewish origin for the work, on the grounds that evidence of explicit Christian features are so minimal in the tale and seem to be of a late redactional level rather than integral to the story itself. Yet recent scholarship on the creation and transmission of such apocryphal tales from antiquity suggests that the possibility of Christian origins be given due consideration. In any event the fact that the tale was copied, edited and expanded by Christian scribes and enjoyed immense popularity in Christian circles needs to be taken seriously. There is evidence of Jewish familiarity with parts of the work but no evidence of any role in the transmission of the text as it now presently stands.

I learned more about islam from this book than any other book Ive read. (SA) More I would like to know your opinion on this article: It has the headline: Nepalese Protesters Attack Mosque (BG) [ More You mention frequently to muslums who write in that they should read about Muhammid chronologically and in the context of his life. Why is this important, other than it establishes continunity? I can see no reason that re-ordering the works in this manner should make a difference. If you addressed this in your book, can to tell me the chapter so I can start there? Thank you. (JM) [ More i would like to know since the muslims read the quoran so much why have they not noticed their prophet was a scum bag? (JC) [

Mark of Cenla 12-28-2001, 08:54 PM After reading most of the Tolkien books multiple times, I stumbled onto David Eddings series The Begariad and the Malloreon, which I really like. :D Has anyone else read any of his stuff? What do you think? Happy reading. ringbearer 12-29-2001, 12:51 AM Never heard of it...what's it about? Mark of Cenla 12-29-2001, 03:46 PM It is about a stuggle between good and evil (of course). It takes place in a fictional place and time with medieval technology. There are supernatural happenings, sorcerers, strange beasts, battles, etc. There is more humor it than in Tolkien's works. The characters are very highly developed. Eddings has written two series with five books, two trilogies, and a few others. There is even his version of the Silmarillion ( The Rivan Codex).
