Commonly known as the Festival of Lights, this eight-day-long holiday commemorates the victory of the Maccabees over the Syrians and the rededication of the Temple of Jerusalem in 165 B.C. The nature of the holiday lends itself to themes of family togetherness, the triumph of religious freedom, light, and miracles.
