( Lenzen, Connie The Oregon Guide To Genealogical Sources . Portland, OR: Genealogical Forum of Oregon, 1996.) In 1903, the State of Oregon required that births be recorded. Copies of birth certificates are available from the Oregon Health Division. (PO Box 14050, Portland, OR 97214-0050.) There are two significant restrictions on their availability. Oregon State Health Division's Administrative Rule 333-11-096 states that birth indexes and records have a 100 year access restriction. This means that all birth indexes less than 100 years old are closed to the public. There are no birth indexes more than 100 years old. Oregon Revised Statute 432-120 states, "In addition to having one's own record, a birth record can be furnished to the parents, guardian or respective representative. If you do not fall into one of the above categories, we [the Vital Records Unit] will need written permission from one of the above eligible persons." Cemetery records, when kept, are found at the cemetery, at the church or institution charged with maintenance of the cemetery, or with individuals. There is no central listing of cemetery records. This book attempts to list published cemetery records and to provide addresses for local cemetery districts.

Extractions: Please Support If You Can Please note, effective immediately the is in no longer affiliated with USGenWeb. I tired of the political nature of the whole process. This is NOT what we desired at the beginning for USGenWeb. During several disputes, even contacting the AB for help against a state coordinator that failed to cooperate with several county coordinators that also left MIGenWeb, they never even responded. :(( Keep in mind I did NOT quit MIGenWeb, Jan Cortez de-linked me without cause! She has done the same to several others and is now in the process of trying to rid herself of yet another county that she does not like the coordinator. I see that the person she tried to replace me with has already left, and another is now in place. Sad to see such disarray for the researcher who as soon as they learn what the site offers, the coordinator has left. :((( This site is NOT going to disappear, it will continue as always. It will continue to offer the very best materials for Livingston County MI. The url is not changing, people WILL know how to find the site, of that I am sure.
