The course is taught in French, and students must use only French in the classroom during class time. During the first quarter, students will be eased into speaking exclusively French (with a littlefranglais here and there!). The principal textbook for the course is Trésors du Temps , which is a brief chronological history of France, including reading selections and art for each time period. We will read most of these reading selections, but I have added others that coordinate with the chapters. We will complete nine of the twelve chapters in the book, culminating with the French Revolution. There are at least two history mini-projects: one on cathedrals and one on the Revolution. Each chapter also contains grammar and verb review with accompanying activities. We will do some of the activities in the book but I have changed the order of the grammar and verb studies. We will review, expand, and practice all verb tenses, study interrogative and relative pronouns, and review object pronouns.
