As you finish the allotted increment a teacher will hole punch the completed #. When your card is fully punched out an award will be given at an assembly to showcase your efforts. For a 8 x 10 printable punch card (PDF) click here. Not only do the students get full use out of the PFA equipment during PE classes, but now in the seven schools in the district they are all using PFA during their Midday Fitness Programs. Certain schools have scheduled mandatory PFA days and some schools are optional. PFA is used in each unit that is offered in my PE curriculum. No matter what we are doing outside, I will try to send the students to the circuit to perform certain exercises on PFA. Sometimes I use it to break up a lesson, or I purposely incorporate it into the rules of the game. The students enjoy the variety of two things going on at one time. How has PFA worked for the non-athlete or team sport lover?

Extractions: LESSON PLANS The following lesson plans are used to prepare students for Project Fitness testing, which we do in the fall and spring at South Central. a requirement to become a station star member is to know the name of each piece of Project fit Equipment. The first two lesson plans will enable students to have hands-on information to learn the name of each piece of equipment. the names of these lessons are PUZZLE-CIZE and HIP TO BE FIT . Once those two lesson plans have been used in class, a written test is given to be sure the students have learned the names of the equipment. BONES FOR SALE This game is good for indoor preparedness for the Project Fitness testing . Also, the students will be learning about the skeleton and names of the bones in the body. This is a great teamwork as well as a physical game. HOT HANDS is a game that is used as a lead-up for basketball. This is done on our outdoor basketball court, which is paved and sits beside our Project Fit equipment. This can also be taken indoors with centers set up as exercise areas should the weather not allow outdoor play.

Extractions: As one of the six activity areas, fitness comprises 10% (10 hours) of class time during the year; however, it is unique in that it is meant to be incorporated throughout the year in as many classes as possible rather than being dealt with as a single 10 hour unit. Fitness activities can be included in the warm up, skill development and cooldown stages of a lesson. These fitness activities should relate to the activities involved in that lesson and unit. For example, if the students are focussing on the jumping events in track and field, attention should be paid to strength and flexibility Students in middle level physical education are at a developmental stage physically. It is not as important for them to improve their fitness levels as it is for them to get into the habit of being physically active every day. Particularly in the younger grades, it is more important that students get a sense of what it feels like to be vigorously active than it is for them to know if they are working within their submaximal heart rate range . Participation in physical education classes can show students that being active on a regular basis is challenging, invigorating and enjoyable .
