OSHA requires that employers provide first aid and CPR training to employees in the absence of a nearby clinic or hospital. OSHA has interpreted this to mean that Emergency Medical Services (i.e. ambulance) or medical facility is to be within 3 to 4 minutes away. If it is not, you must have at least one employee trained in first aid and CPR per shift. There is not a specific number of how many employees that need to be trained on staff; it depends on your agencys size, type of operations and potential for emergency medical needs.
