The Marauder Scholar Award is presented on an annual basis to student-athletes who have achieved a minimal sessional average of 9.5 (80%) over 24 units while competing for a varsity or club team during the school year. The recipient of Dr. Mary Keyes award for the Top Female Marauder Scholar was Lulu Bursztyn (Barrie, ON), a fourth year Chemical Engineering student and member of the McMaster Women's wrestling team.

The award was first presented in 1996 in memory of the late Les Prince who was a founding board member of the Athletes Helping Athletes Program and who himself had such enthusiasm for giving back to sport in our community. This award is presented to an individual who has shown leadership and outstanding community service through the Outreach Programme. This year's recipient is one of the most valuable members of the McMaster Women's Swim Team. A third year student in the honours program in Biology and Math, she was also an OUA Championship finalist this season. She is a two-year participant in the McMaster Athlete Outreach Program and was this year's Outreach Co-ordinator for the McMaster Athletic Council. Last year she organized a Committee for Youth Symposium and was the secretary of the Athletic Council. Her energy and commitment to her team and the athletic program have been exceptional making her a deserving candidate of the 2003-2004 Les Prince Award.

Baker ranked number one out of 61 competitors, winning the gold medal bout 15-14 over Alexander Diacou from New York City. Carlton Henry of New York City and Robert Ziechmann of North Carolina tied for third place in the event. SEASON RECAP: OWLS' SEASON FILLED WITH TEAM/INDIVIDUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS Nikki Franke PHILADELPHIAThe Temple womens fencing team completed another successful season finishing with a 17-8 record for the 2004-2005 season. The Owls were ranked as high as 9th by the United States Fencing Coaches Association during the season and ended the season ranked 12th. Highlights included several team tournament victories and strong individual performances from members of all squads. One of the individual accomplishments of team members included junior foil fencer Jenna Remmert's selection to the 2005 National Collegiate Womens Fencing Championships in Houston, Texas in March.
