We typically enjoy 160+ days of frost free growing season with long days and some rainfall. Our winters are generally mild, rarely dipping into the teens. Since emigrating to America in the 1600s, the thirteen generations of my paternal lineage have been farmers, either exclusively, or in conjunction with a trade or profession. Gardening is a family tradition. Our ancestors moved here from Maine, via Kansas in the late 1800s. Great-grandfather, Victor Hugo Dunton, built the house and farm at which we live. Our children are the fifth generation of Duntons to be raised on this land and the sixth in our community. This soil has sustained our family through times of world war, global economic collapses, societal unrest, and natural disasters. We believe that with proper stewardship, the farm will continue to provide sustenance for many generations to come.
