Extractions: There are more than 3000 languages spoken around the world. Such abundance of languages is a great obstacle for people to communicate, due to this fact plenty of people consider it as an imprecation. Since the antique times peole tried to compose one language, neutral and easy to learn for everyone. Esperanto was developed out of many projects and finally applied in practice in 1887, when Dr. L. Zamenhof declared about its origin in Warsaw. The language is suitable not only for the scientific writings, but for the belles-lettres as well, as it is very clear, sonorous, logic and easy to learn. A few of simple Esperanto grammar rules should be compared with a great number of complicated ones of the various native languages. The difference would be amazing!

Extractions: Postnote Warning: Emotions and tempers are sometimes aroused among those who have dedicated much of their lives to the devising and/or promotion of one planned language or another, when someone (for whatever purpose, and with whatever justification) disses somebody's favorite planned language. Consequently, the following material has, at times, been accused of being (a) inaccurate and (b) biased. No doubt, inaccuracies have crept in; and, as a proponent of Esperanto, I have never claimed to be unbiased. If you are looking for a totally objective, scholarly presentation of the history of the planned-language movement, I suggest that you look elsewhere. Another warning: you will probably not find it (everybody writing on the subject seems to have his own set of prejudices), and if you do it will probably be extremely boring. This presentation is, I believe, at least not boring. I can sum up the conclusions that can be drawn from this historical introduction in a relatively few words. Some one thousand (perhaps more) planned languages have been sketeched or created during the past two centuries; the approximately a dozen treated here are those that have actually been devised to a fare-thee-well and have actually acquired a community of speakers, of whatever size. At the end of this period, the number of speakers of Esperanto now living exceeds, apparently by several orders of magnitude, the total number of speakers of all other planned languages in this list who have ever lived. I suspect that this demonstrates something; but I will leave it to you to decide what.

The problem of international communication in the modern world assumes remarkable importance in international institutions, particularly at the United Nations, where representatives of the peoples of the planet debate very sensitive issues like peace and security. 2.The cost for translation and interpretation into the six official languages of the General Assembly (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) already represents around a fifth of the budget of the United Nations. Given the experience of the European Union and its institutions, where those costs reach up to two fifths of the total budget, one can imagine how the costs for the United Nations would further increase if other languages were adopted, as some might have the right on the basis of the number of people, or countries, using them (for instance Hindi, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese). 3.The obvious impossibility of employing all the languages of the Member States imposes a question of equality and democracy: though most of the diplomats and representatives have command of one of the six official languages, they have no native ability to speak them, and thus are at a disadvantage.

I also saw a TV-interview, so I asked for the correspondence course and I learned it very soon, and months later I discovered that there was a Scout Esperanto League. I wrote them and some years later I became the National Representative of Skolta Esperanto-Ligo in Chile, and Scouting Delegate of Universala Esperanto-Asocio At 1988, I became the SEL's Official Bulletin editor of " La Skolta Mondo " and have represented SEL in two big international scout gathering: Panamerican Scout Jamboree in Villarrica and at the 19th World Scout Jamboree, both in Chile. Through this work as SEL's bulletin editor, I discovered how big and pleasant are the Guide and Scout Brotherships, the different ways of doing scounting and develop the Youth Programme, activities, events and troubles that the differents national associations and regions have to do scounting all around the world.
