Child Care The EPA-RTP Library supports the research and informational needs of the EPA in general and the RTP facilities in particular. The Library is open to the public 9 AM - 3 PM Monday through Friday (except federal holidays). All visitors must have a photo identification to enter the facility. Reference staff are available to answer questions via email (library.rtp@epa.gov), on-site and telephone, (919) 541-2777. The main focus of the collection is air pollution, with emphasis on chemical toxicity and the basic sciences, and includes some coverage of business, economics, and computer-related information. The EPA-RTP Library collection is composed of more than 400 journal titles, more than 4000 books, and an extensive documents collection. In addition to these print resources, the library has many EPA documents and the Federal Register on microfiche. The collection and resources described above are available for on-site use only. Microfiche readers and copy machines are available in the library for public use.

Report Katrina home page Potential Health Risks from Sediments Sep 16 - Eighteen sediment samples from across the New Orleans area were analyzed for bacteria and chemicals. Preliminary results indicate that some sediment may be contaminated with bacteria and fuel oils and human health risks may therefore exist from contact with sediment deposited from receding flood waters. As sediments begin to dry, EPA will perform air sampling to monitor potential inhalation risks and will also assess long-term exposure scenarios

The Engineering News-Record (ENR) announced its June "Top 200 Environmental Firms" issue. Battelle maintained a leading edge in many of the surveys included. Most notably, the results of the "Top 20 in Environmental Science" survey showed Battelle Memorial Institute as the number 1 environmental science firm with a $236.0 million revenue. The results of the "Top 20 in Environmental Management" survey indicated Battelle Memorial Institute was number 3 with a generated revenue of 118 million. Rounding off the issue, Battelle again showed its strength in the environmental consulting and contracting industry by finishing 14 overall in "Top Environmental Firms" of the year 2002.
