The Stitching Post Homepage The stitching Post is a onestop needlework shop specializing in counted cross Angel Songnice sampler with bands of stitchesand Happy Day Needleroll http://www.stitching.com/stpost/
Extractions: In 1990, when my first son, Christopher, was born, I looked for a birth sampler I liked for him. I wanted it to be something he would treasure forever, rather than simply a record which would ordain his wall as baby, soon to be discarded as an embarrassment. I could find nothing that I liked and so designed my own. I then thought that there might be other stitchers out there who were looking for design they couldn't find, so I started the design service. I was right - in the last ten years I have designed over 300 charts for stitchers in six countries and have sold designs to many more. We arrived back in Australia in 1995 after living in the UK and the Middle East (the source of much inspiration). Since then, Express Publications has commissioned over 20 designs, leading to publication in their stable of magazine titles , such as "Australian Country Craft and Decorating", "Embroidery and Cross Stitch", "Bear Creations", "Craft and Decorating", and "Handmade" as well as specialty publications. This year, my first design for Janlynn Corporation, "Cretassic Park", has appeared.

Making Embroidery Samples No 1 Bead cross Stitch AKA Sampler, Berlin and Pint de Marque stitch. embroidery cross Stitch Illustration, Begin at the top left corner. http://www.beadwrangler.com/samplers/embroidery1/making_embroidery_samples1.htm
Extractions: to move around Beadwrangler's. E General Instructions Thread the embroidery needle with thick thread, double it, about 40" putting 20" on each side. Make a knot in the end and cut off the excess thread. Take the needle through the counted fabric from the back to front, at the top left or right edge, beginning in the 2 nd stitch from the top. Make sure the thread is taut and take the needle from the front to back over the top of the fabric and back through the next stitch: making a loop around the edge of the fabric, continue to the end. Then turn the piece to the back side, pull the needle through all the stitches to the other end and cut off the excess thread. For each row of beads in each sample, thread the beading/sharps needle with beading thread, double it, about 40" placing 20" on each side. Make a knot in the end and cut off the excess thread ends. Knots are not used in most thread embroidery, however, when stitching with beads the thread requires knots at the beginning and ending of stitch rows to keep the beads from pulling loose. Use Fray Stop on the knot to make sure it does not come loose. I use a disposable lighter on my beading thread ends. Each time a row is finished, make a knot, cut off the excess thread and begin the next row with new thread. Pull the thread taut after each stitch. Each time beads are strung onto the fabric, take the needle through to the back side, pull the thread taut. By alternating the bead colors, the thread path is easy to identify. Each count begins in the stitch following the last bead stitched.

Extractions: If you are interested in viewing part of a sampler that uses this stitch an image of it worked in hand dyed pearl thread on a linen foundation fabric it can be found here Algerian eye stitch also goes by the names of Star stitch and Star eyelet stitch. This is a stitch often found on canvas needlework, pulled work embroidery and forms of counted thread work. Worked on even weave embroidery fabric, it is made up of stitches arranged in a square. Work this stitch with the fabric held under tension in an embroiderers hoop or on a needlework frame. Refer to the diagram and work each straight stitch into the center hole. With each stitch pull the thread slightly so that the fabric distorts slightly, as it this tensioning action that creates the holes in the center of each stitch. If you want to neaten or emphasise the central hole you can do so with the end of a knitting needle. Gently poke the end of the knitting needle into the whole to widen it a little. It is very easy to build up interesting design motifs and patterns using arrangements of Algerian eye stitch. This needlework stitch can also be built up row upon row to create interesting border patterns on houshold items and garment. You often encounter this stitch in pulled and drawn thread needlework and worked in combination with
