HISTORY: In 1970 a group of antique car buffs from Fairbanks all owned cars that were from 1915 or older. They formed under the Horseless Carriage Club of America and were called the "Fairbanks, Alaska Regional Group of the Horseless Carriage Club of America." This organization only allowed vehicles classified as "horseless carriages" to participate in National club-sponsored tours. They defined a horseless carriages as "early pioneer gas, steam, and electric cars up to and including 1915 model automobiles." The Fairbanks group wisely decided to allow other vehicles under the following classes: Production Car: Includes standard factory-produced automobiles 1916 to 1942.

Anyway, I work from my home business, Digizone Designs , creating graphics and websites. It's been fun and recently pretty busy. Previously, I've worked for Boeing at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. A friend lured me away from GSFC to work for an internet startup which was going well till the bottom dropped out so I decided to strike out on my own.

Extractions: Vol 1 Issue 5, August 1997 Selected articles: August marks a significant change for the EV1 Club. In February of 1997 EV Specialists Rick Ostrove and Chelsea Bennet polled a few of the most enthusiastic EV1 drivers about our interest in starting a club. They wondered if an organization to represent and harness the power of the EV1 drivers would be a good idea. The seven of us present for that founding meeting voiced a resounding yes. Today our membership stands at over 90. During the past six months these seven members have worked behind the scenes to make the club go. There were many things to do and tasks were delegated on an informal basis. Things were decided by consensus and by who was available to get the job done. Elections were put off so that when we had them they would come from a representative group of EV1 drivers. That time is now.
Extractions: Français Search BACKGROUNDER Electric Vehicle Project - Montréal 2000 As most large cities, Montréal has to contend with urban smog caused by nitrogen-oxide (Nox) and volatile-organic-compound (VOC) emissions and this despite having some of the most severe regulations against air pollution. In Quebec, road transportation is responsible for about 70% of Nox emissions, over 35% of VOC emissions and 40% of greenhouse-gas emissions. It is also responsible for 60% of carbon-monoxide (CO) emissions. The goal of the Electric Vehicle Project - Montréal 2000 is to prove that it is possible to adopt a gasoline-replacement solution that would not add to the problem of greenhouse-gas emissions because electric energy used to recharge batteries is produced by hydroelectricity. The use of these vehicles will help reduce carbon-dioxide (CO2) emissions by more than 3.8 tons per year per vehicle. The other goal of this project is to demonstrate in real conditions that battery-charged electric vehicles, with an adequate infrastructure in place, are a technical, cost-effective solution for commercial and institutional vehicle fleets operating in an urban environment. The project requires the commitment of many sponsors, and this at various levels. The promoters of the Electric Vehicle Project - Montréal 2000 are Hydro-Québec, the Government of Canada, the Government of Quebec, Norvik Traction and the Centre dexpérimentation des véhicules électriques du Québec (CEVÉQ).

Extractions: About This Project The Group Through Adversity and Trepidation David Andres ... James The web design team of Miramar High School was created in 2002. Two years later, the team has grown two-fold and is in the midst of a major fund-raising campaign to make the school's web site the best for years to come. Andres found the ThinkQuest competition and chose five members to work with him. Now, the power of Miramar High's finest is turned toward this competition. The road to success is never a smooth ride. The web design team has had to work with no money and -at one time- no sponsor. But their steadfastness has earned them new software. But there was no time to wait for that software. Each team member had to work from home, communicating through free FTP services, instant messaging software, and even physically swapping cds with work on them. Each member had to fit web design work in between their grueling International Baccalaureate schedules, and their existing school web site. As Content Manager, David was responsible for all of the research, text and stock pictures. He decided which energy sources would be covered in the web site and to what extent. He then researched where those new energy sources would be implemented and how. David also laid out how each page would link to each other in the site layout, and organized the Further Research bar..

Please send any comments or questions to: Rsuiter@aol.com This car is our Plymouth Laser. This car is a very unique car in many ways. First, it has two advanced DC motors instead of just one. It also has two EVAS controlers. We have estimated it to have a maximum speed of about 140 miles per hour. This is our fastest and newest car. The frame of the car is welded to the roll cage inside and the batters boxes are welded to the frame of the car thus, making this car one piece. The car uses 16, 6 volt Trojan T-145 batteries which give it a range of about 50 miles on a charge. This car is not allowed to compete with other high school cars. An advanced class had to be formed to put this car in to . Click on the laser for more pictures. This is our Dodge Rampage. (Most likely this vehicle will never work again) This is one of our older cars. It competes in the high school class. This car is about four years old. This car is due for some major refinements. Next year we plan to give it a electric overhaul of sorts. We may even consider making it advanced class. This truck, like the laser, runs off of 16, 6 volt trojan batteries, except this one uses lighter T-125 batteries. It has a range of about 45 miles on a charge. It has a G.E. motor and a G.E. controler. We also have a Pontiac Fiero Our Fiero we made workable this year in two months in order to enter it in the Tour De AZ. It like the others runs off of 16, 6 volt Trojan T-125 batteries. This is our only street legal car we have as of now. It also has a G.E. motor and had a G.E. controler but we replaced it with a curtis controler this year. We redesigned the battery boxes to be lighter and hold the batteries better and allow easier access to important components. This car is very close to being street legal this year. It should be done in a few weeks.
