Sheryl L. Graeber , Superintendent FAX (920) 426-5601 INTRODUCTION The Drug Abuse Correctional Center (DACC) is located north of Oshkosh in Winnebago, Wisconsin. Current population capacity is 280 male inmates with 196 beds designated for treatment. In order to facilitate daily work, 18 inmates who are not in program provide work support as permanent party. DACC strives to teach offenders to be responsible citizens by learning to make responsible choices. The ability to make those kind of choices are interfered with by the abuse of alcohol and drugs. Learning to live a responsible life requires at times the learning and relearning of cognitive and behavioral processes. DACC provides a place to practice those skills in a safe non-disruptive environment.

Extractions: Learning more about drug abuse can be the first step toward recognizing a problem and deciding to do something about it. Often the first person in the family to get help for a drug abuse problem is not the drug abuser himself. When one person in the family uses drugs, everyone suffers. Unfortunately, one of the symptoms of addiction is the same problem that keeps the drug abuser from getting help. That symptom is denial. It is the inability of the addicted person to admit that they have a problem. Sometimes family members also have some of this denial. The first step is to learn more about drug abuse. For general information, you can contact the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) at (301) 468-2600.
