Genetics zoology neurobiology biochemistry The MSc course runs from October to September and consists of taught components in addition to a research project. Students taking the MSc will undertake a Research Project. The Research Project will be in the research laboratory of one of the faculty of the Genetics and Development group in either the Biology Department, the Genome Damage and Stability Centre or the Medical School. Developmental Cell Biology is at the core of understanding how organisms develop from eggs through to adults. This MSc programme offers both practical and theoretical training in aspects of cell and molecular biology as well as molecular genetics and how they can be used to understand development. The programme consists of 4 key courses teaching both the practical techniques and the experimental approaches required to understand development as well as the theoretical background to these processes. A large part of the degree is a Research Project undertaken in one of the active research groups in the School of Life Sciences. Potential research topics range from the control of cell division to the development of muscle cells and include studies using yeast

Extractions: Skip University-Wide Navigational Links Skip Local Navigational Links Skip Main Content Area The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology in the College of Medicine at the University of Vermont is an interactive department with a strong track record of accomplishment in research, education, and service. The Department consists of 17 faculty members: 8 tenure track, 4 research track, and 5 educator track faculty. In fiscal year 2003, we generated approximately $2 million in total direct costs of extramural funding. In addition, we received continued funding of $1.5 million for a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in Neuroscience , which is being used to enhance the research infrastructure for neuroscience at UVM. We have competed successfully for two $0.5 million supplements to the COBRE. In 2002-2003, we purchased a BioRad Radiance Multiphoton Microscope for the COBRE Imaging and Electrophysiology Core. In 2003-2004 our supplement will be used to purchase a Ciphergen Protein Chip reader and a laser microdissection microscope. The extramural research carried out in our department ranges from molecular to systems neuroscience, and is recognized nationally and internationally. FACULTY QUICK LINKS Braas, Karen

Welcome To The Society For In Vitro Biology The focus is on biological research, development, and applications of significance to science and society. The mission is accomplished through the Society s http://www.sivb.org/
Extractions: The Society for In Vitro Biology (SIVB) was founded in 1946 as the Tissue Culture Association to foster exchange of knowledge of in vitro biology of cells, tissues and organs from both plant and animals (including humans). The focus is on biological research, development, and applications of significance to science and society. The mission is accomplished through the Society's publications; national and local conferences, meetings and workshops; and through support of teaching initiatives in cooperation with educational institutions. Over the years, SIVB has expanded to create an environment of scientific exchange and interdisciplinary synergy with the goal of advancing current and future systems for in vitro biology.
