If you're interest in getting the book, you can find it on Amazon.com Pre-millennialism has been the major eschatological position in America for over a century. Many, though not all, pre-millennialists are dispensational in their understanding of Scripture. Dispensationalism and pre-millennialism complement each other and are able to explain both the unity and diversity of Scripture, and provide a sound basis for understanding God's promises to Israel. This is something that cannot be done with other approaches to Scripture and certainly says much in their favor. Various developments on the world scene have done much to create an interest in prophecy. For many, the establishment of the Israeli state in 1948 was a confirmation of Bible prophecy. Added to that were a series of disasters- Bhopal, Chernobyl, AIDS, earthquakes, global warming, and others-that have created an "apocalyptic fever." Radical and far-reaching social changes such as the growing acceptance of the gay lifestyle, radical feminism, radical environmentalism, school shootings, and genetic experimentation, have all worked together to create the impression that "something momentous is going to happen soon." When life proceeds as usual and there is a general feeling of peace and safety, there is not much interest in biblical prophecy But when the very foundations of a society are shaken and the bizarre becomes the norm, "millennial madness" spreads like a plague.

Early diagnosis can increase the person's chance of survival and through new drug therapy treatments, the extent of damage to the brain is lessened. A stroke is a "brain attack", often caused by the same damage to the arteries as happens in a heart attack. Knowing the signs and accessing immediate medical attention are of paramount importance. These are some of the signs of stroke. If you see or experience any or all of them, immediately call for an ambulance. An early response by ambulance personnel and early access to a hospital will greatly influence the outcome of this all too common medical emergency. February, 1999

Pyrek The first in a series examining disaster management and bioterrorism as related to infectious diseases. Q: In your opinion, is the average US hospital prepared for a mass disaster like the Sept. 11 terrorism attacks? A: US hospitals are doing a good job with what they've got. However, the average hospital is prepared for a disaster of only modest scope and complexity, such as 30-50 casualties at most and those better not all be critical, as many hospitals could not take that many patients. The average hospital has only modest resources before any disaster and, with personnel and resource reductions, they operate at or near capacity most of the time. My own emergency department (ED) continuously holds admitted patients because we do not have in-patient beds available. Now, imagine loading another 20, 30, or 50% critical on top of this. That being said, the New York and DC hospitals did very well with the tragedies of Sept 11. They did a terrific job and clearly could have handled many more patients. But what would have happened if the numbers were reversed, if there were 6,500 critically injured and 1,000 dead? If we suffer a bioterrorism attack, these may be more like the numbers we see.

My guess is that you may have been through such an experience, yourself, at one time or another. So, when one asks, "What is it, and how do I get there?", you know viscerally what I am referring to. You don't need a road map. If only upgrades were the same. One of the many struggles we have in this industry is staying current in many areas. One of these areas is keeping current in our operating system release. Those of us who are senior citizens in the industry recall briefing sessions on how to perform the migration to the current system from a previous release. We've brought that goodness back! We've asked Ovid Williams from the IBM Technical Support Division to give us a how-to on the migration path from most RISC releases to V4R2. Also, following his presentation, some of our own membership from United Payers And Providers will field questions and offer pointers from their recent and successful upgrade to V4R2. So, plan now for an info filled evening of news and tips that you can use to get the new features and functionality of V4R2 loaded and running on your RISC box.
