It is a known phenomenon that will happen at a precise time. The NRC, the industry, and others have been and are continuing to pursue a comprehensive program for dealing with potential Y2K problems in the nuclear industry. We have been working closely with all of our licensees, including our medical licensees, radiopharmaceutical manufacturers, irradiators, fuel cycle facilities, and commercial nuclear power plants. In this section BCN recognizes those volunteers whose efforts have shone as they have given their time, energy and talents to BCN projects. Paul Tiger first came to the BCN as a information provider for fire departments in 1995. He soon took the position of Center Developer for the Emergency Services Center A former volunteer firefighter, Paul is now an active volunteer rescuer with the Longmont Emergency Unit ; the president of the Friends of the Longmont Youth Center ; spends time organizing and teaching computer technology to adults and children; and arranging donations of computers to deserving individuals and groups. In the fall of 2001, Paul took on the role of Volunteer Coordinator for the BCN. Marc Sobel joined BCN in Fall of 1998. He walked into the offices of BCN with a desire to contribute to Virtual Chautauqua . Virtual Chautauqua connects k-12 rural youth with performing artists via the interet. Marc knew he wanted to make a special contribution to this project and was very patient in explaining to BCN's nontechnical staff what he had in mind. Marc is recognized by BCN as being a 'Virtual Wizard' because of his vision and determination to build an interactive virtual performing artist museum teachers will use to create unique lesson plans from the Virtual Chautauqua material. There are maybe a dozen virtual museums on the web but this will be the first virtual performing arts museum.. We are extremely fortunate to have Marc's talents, skills and patience working on Virtual Chautauqua and teaching

Extractions: IN THIS ISSUE We have all been extremely busy since our last issue went out, especially as the end of the fiscal and calendar years approached. The end of the fiscal year brought opportunities to complete current activities in the training area, and for planning (and budgets!) The end of the calendar year closes out a millennium (how many times do you plan to do that?!), and brings along the baggage associated with Y2K activities. In addition to normal training and awareness activities, many of us have been able to influence additional training and awareness for Y2K security related issues, and for critical infrastructure protection initiatives. AWARENESS becomes the watchword now as the century comes to a close and we begin anew with year 2000. Our objective should be to recognize and take action whenever a new opportunity arises where we can be effective with computer/cyber security and information protection awareness messages. Personally, I've been so swamped with work relating to new policy and guidance issuance, participating in the training initiative I mentioned in the last newsletter, and overseeing the Department's computer incident response team (DOE/CIAC) that there's hardly time to do anything else, and meetings usually eat up the rest of the time available.

We are starting to see the seeds that Tracye and I have been planting beginning to grow. It is our desire to see PZ become a means to help other ministries, evangelize and promote other ministries and become a clearing house for Bible Prophecy and World Events. I have been getting several emails as to why "you" have to now pay to access some of the Prophezine articles and areas. When I was called back to lead Prophezine, the Lord put a huge fire and zeal in my heart. It is not my intention to keep Prophezine status quo. The time is ripe. There are so many seeking answers to Bible Prophecy and World Events. Through Bible Prophecy and World Events we have another means that we can use to lead people to the Lord. I have been called back to PZ with a purpose and to grow this ministry bigger than ever and be more effective than ever. To do the things that the Lord has put in my heart to do with this ministry, it is going to take financial support. I are not doing this for my own personal gain, my heart is to serve the Lord and to spread the Gospel and the Hope of our Lords soon return.

Extractions: Patricia Geraghty As a professional religious educator, I attend monthly meetings with other religious educators in the Clara Barton District. During our last meeting, a colleague shared her frustration with the lack of parental support and interest in the religious education programs she was offering. Several other religious educators nodded in agreement. Recruitment of volunteers is always a challenge, but the issue at hand is much broader. I believe that parents are the primary religious educators of children and youth. Unitarian Universalist faith development takes place informally in the home with every experience and interaction that children have with their families. Children learn values and principles from observing parental behavior. The things that are important to parents become the things that are important to their children. While certain aspects of Unitarian Universalist faith development may take place more formally in a Sunday School classroom, that time, an hour a week, less for those who don't attend regularly, limits the extent of what can reasonably be offered. For parents who seriously take to heart the tenets of their chosen faith, religious education on the home front is a natural. Many other religions include rituals and religious practices in the home as standard procedure. But for Unitarian Universalist parents, many new to our denomination, a faith that has no creed and does not dictate beliefs or practices provides few tools for intentional faith development in the home. This year, I hope to gather resources to make available to parents who are interested in more actively participating in their children's faith development in the home.

Resolution of these issues can be best accomplished by incorporation of adequate testing processes into the baseline sensor ground-testing program. Until this testing is completed, the capabilities of the SBIRS sensor and signal processing to operate in the space environment remain a major concern.

Lee Abstract With support from the National Science Foundation, the Faculty of the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech has constructed a number of on-line courses in support of the undergraduate program. Almost 75% of all courses in the department have a Web presence, and a growing number regard the Web as their primary resource. Starting from the concept of a passive Digital Library, the course offerings are now moving towards a much more interactive mode of learning, utilizing on-line testing systems and collaborative learning, and incorporating elements of active learning. Starting from "local" Web-Based learning, the site is preparing for the advent of "distance education". The presentation will be a progress report on one aspect of this project and the plans for future development and dissemination.
