This class will present the basic techniques for using Precious Metal Clay in all four forms: clay, paste, syringe and sheet. With a total of eight projects, the participants will learn how to create jewelry pieces using this amazing material. Then a three-day Level Two Certification class will be offered at Raven Hill Discovery Center on October 16, 17 and 18, 2005 from 9 am to 5 pm each day. Precious Metal Clay is a non-toxic combination of pure silver powder, a cellulose binder and water. The material works and feels like ceramic clay. Simply form a piece with the material, dry it and clean it to remove any rough areas. Then fire the piece, usually in a small jewelry kiln. The heat of the firing burns away the binder and causes the silver powder to fuse. The result is solid silver. Devos is a nationally and internationally recognized PMC teacher. She has worked with PMC since 1996 and has presented PMC classes across the US as well as in Europe, Canada, South Africa, Japan and Australia. She has written two books on PMC, Introduction to Precious Metal Clay and Precious Metal Clay in Mixed Media, both published by Wardell Publications.
