Extractions: Publications X-Ray Crystallography And Biophysics Professor Main Professor Woolfson , and Dr Greenall The focus of the work is on the development of methods for the determination of crystal structures and the application of mathematical methods to the structure and dynamics of biological molecules. The crystallography work allows the structure of complicated proteins to be determined from X-ray diffraction data, using computational methods for reconstructing the phases of the diffracted waves, and also image processing techniques for enhancing the original diffraction image. The biophysics research examines, through computer simulation, the motion of the DNA molecule and how it interacts with its environment; this information is of central relevance to modern biology.

Extractions: The goals of the research are two-fold. It aims to develop methodologies for in-situ, quantitative analysis and identification of mineral inclusions in diamonds using single crystal XRD and hard X-ray fluorescence(XRF)microprobe. Secondly, it seeks to develop an analytical routine of diamond fingerprinting using XANES, S-XRF analyses, and photoluminescence XEOL analyses, among others. The research will primarily be done on newly-constructed beamlines at the Canadian Light Source and be based in Saskatoon. The applicant must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. To be considered, please submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and references to Dr. Maya Kopylova. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and university pay scales. Contact Person:

The measurements, recorded by the New Technology Telescope (NTT) at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) at La Sill, Chile, also show an expanding bubble of gas centered about 3 arcseconds from Sgr A* (the galactic core). Like evidence at other wavelengths (e.g., radio and gamma), the infrared pictures are consistent with the existence of a massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way.
