The One-Computer Classroom | Getting Organized Com Smart Tools for Busy Teachers lesson plans, Resources Links, I use this same computer when we do an internet lesson in Social Studies. http://www.teachnet.com/how-to/organization/onecompclass040799.html
Extractions: We are fortunate in our district to have our computers linked to a TV which is mounted on a wall. It makes it easier to incorporate various software and the internet into daily lessons (I teach Reading/Language Arts). I also have two additional computers (one is a castoff from home) which the kids use in their free time as they finish their work. To enable some of my slower students to get some computer time, I occasionally use a roster with the kids' names to decide who will have computer time that day. Sometimes I'll start at the beginning, middle or end of the roster to allow everyone an equal chance of using the computer. Good luck! Using the computer effectively in the classroom can be a tricky business! Karen Idea #4
Extractions: Review with your students how to use an abacus, making sure they understand the abacus was developed in order to store and calculate decimal numbers (0 through 9). Students should appreciate that the abacus was an early ancestor of the computer. If possible, have on hand an abacus with which they can experiment. Tell the class that a pebble calculator works similarly to an abacus. Let students know that they are going to construct and use their own pebble calculators. Students may work on their pebble calculators individually or with partners.

There are three assignments and three "templates" that they can download and open to do the assignments in. I have them set to add them up so they can check their numbers based on their math. They simply change the top to their name and type the assignment number in the blank. Then, get busy typing.

Extractions: Welcome to Lesson Plan. Each issue, we will discuss a specific area of music technology and address ways to incorporate it into your curriculum. We're going to start out with some ideas for using music-notation (scoring) software. The ideas presented can be used with any such program, including Sibelius Software's Sibelius; MakeMusic's Finale, PrintMusic, and NotePad; and a variety of others. Many of the music-education national standards can be addressed using music-notation software. The most common standards that relate to notation software are composing and arranging music within specified guidelines and reading and notating music.
