AFAJournal.org - Activism Citizenship education gen Joshua takes to heart the principle from Proverbs2918 Where there is Johnson is a Littleton, colorado, gen Joshua member. http://www.afajournal.org/2004/september/904activism.asp
Extractions: While the program originated with the Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), a review of the Web site ( www.generationjoshua.org ) reveals excellent resources for public school classrooms as well as other youth organizations which want to get teens involved in the culture. Ned Ryun, director of the Gen Joshua program, told AFA Journal , "The tendency to engage in hands-on involvement in civic activism is not as great among home-schoolers as it was 10 or 15 years ago. We want to encourage this rising generation of young Christians homeschooled, private schooled and public schooled that they can make a difference in America now, and that they can be leaders for the next generation." Ryun is no stranger to politics. He is a former writer for President George W. Bush and son of U.S. Congressman Jim Ryun (R-KS). He also directs the HSLDA Federal Political Action Committee and is co-author of Heroes Among Us with his father and twin brother, Drew. "We got the name Generation Joshua from Mike Farris," said Ryun. Farris is president of the board and general counsel for HSLDA. In 2002, he gave a speech in which he referred to homeschooling parents as the "Moses generation" and the rising generation of students as the "Joshua generation" who can take back the land and play a key role in preserving freedom and liberty in America.

Extractions: The Colorado River Basin lies directly across all lines of travel between the rapidly increasing population of California and the densely populated eastern half of the United States. To a large extent in the past, it was considered just a vast space one had to cross on the way to California. Now, with the Pacific Coast more fully developed, people seeking undeveloped, uncrowded areas are beginning to discover the Colorado River Basin. The increased consciousness of color, brought about by colored photography, is causing people to become aware of the beauties of the region. Moving picture companies have discovered that the clear air, the high percentage of sunshine, and the great variety of colorful unspoiled scenery makes southern Utah and Arizona ideal for taking colored photographs of outdoor scenes. The same features are attracting more and more vacationists. It is time for immediate action which will assure preservation of the many and varied recreational resources of the Colorado River Basin. It is also time to develop facilities which will enable people to see and enjoy the region. There are natural limitations on the amount of land that can be placed under cultivation. There is a limit, which has been reached in most sections, on the number of domestic animals that can be grazed. But the possibilities for the development of the recreational use of the basin are almost unlimited.

Access International Education: Resources For Administrators Access International education NetworkResources on Underrepresented Groups in gen, A. Van der. International Science Study for Undergraduates. http://www.ucis.pitt.edu/aie/administrators/bib.html
Extractions: The primary objective is to identify projects, scholarship opportunities, publications and other resources aimed at increasing diversity in international studies. This information is presented in searchable form on this website to facilitate its use among institutions aiming to enhance participation of underrepresented groups in international education. In this article it specifies the importance of science students being in contact with alternative ways of thinking and doing things from around the globe, and the students needing to have a better understanding of the global effects of their work. Subtle and not so subtle differences in culture can neither be learned in a classroom nor obtained from books and that's why altenatives need to be developed in order to get more students to participate. But, before they can embark on an international science education program, science faculty and students need some idea of the scientific environment into which the students will be placed. This journal discusses various issues surrounding this concern.
