Extractions: Hockey Tips Teach Attitudes First, Skills Second What is the First Commandment of Coaching? If you said winning, better read on. Fair Play is the First Commandment, and is based on this Golden Rule: treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. You and the parents of your players are responsible for instilling this Fair Play attitude. Everyone must show respect for rules, referees, teammates and opposing players and coaches. You can start by setting a good example. Don't argue with referees or opposing players and coaches, and teach your players to never check or hit in a manner that might cause injury to an opponent. There's nothing wrong with winning, but overemphasizing it can lead to decreased enjoyment and restricted participation for players, and result in undesirable behaviour and high anxiety levels. Never ridicule or condemn your players for making mistakes or losing games, and don't overplay your talented players. All players have a right to fair ice time. Always consider the welfare of your players first, by making certain they are participating in a safe environment. Ensure that facilities, equipment and practices are safe and appropriate to the age and ability level of your players. Downplay toughness and intimidation, and stress that players should never hit an opponent from behind.

Soccer Training Info - Coaching Tips Soccer training tips, including information on passing, dribbling, shooting, You must teach your team to play hard, no matter who the opponents are, http://www.soccer-training-info.com/soccer_coaching_tips.asp
Extractions: Even before stepping onto the field for tryouts or the first day of the season, you should know, as a coach, how you are going to approach the game. Think of it as a game plan on a larger scale, a blueprint for the kind of coach you want to be. Over the years I've been asked many times what my coaching philosophy is, so I've tried to sum it up here as succinctly as possible, breaking it into ten rather simple principles. Taken together these principles show how I approach teaching and coaching. Whatever you do, do it to the best of your best ability. This sounds obvious and maybe even a little simplistic, but its very important corollary is that you must understand what your best abilities are and then work with them. In other words, in order to perform at the highest level, you have to know your limitations and at the same time use your strengths. Being aware of your limitations allows you to enhance your performance by surrounding yourself with the best people, which is what I've always done. Frankly, I've seen a lot of people do the opposite. People who are afraid their abilities will be undermined are threatened by the talents of others. And I have to admit that at times, I've felt that way too. It can be pretty scary to be surrounded by people more talented in some areas than you are, but in the end I've always tried to appreciate my own abilities and those of my coaching colleagues to allow us to do what was best for the team to help us win.

Basketball Coaching Tips For Coaches An article by Sidney Goldstein giving coaches the right mindset for coaching Always play and teach personto-person defense. Zones are more difficult, http://www.mrbasketball.net/instuff/30tips/e4tipsCoaches.html
Extractions: By Sidney Goldstein No wonder many coaches are overwhelmed each season: besides being a basketball expert, you need to be an expert teacher, organizer, floor general, child psychologist, and more. You probably have another job that keeps you busy. Here are several ideas that may make your life easier and your season more successful. 1. Don't let them do it! That's right, make sure your players do things right in practice. Don't let players shoot from half court, shoot with faulty technique, dribble with their heads down, palm the ball while dribbling, and so on. If players can't do things correctly, don't let them do them at all. Ban shooting from more than three feet or dribbling, if you think its necessary. Remember: if your players practice improperly, then they become experts on doing things wrong (we call these bad habits). 2. Don't try to do it all!

Children with LD and ADHD present unique challenges and rewards to parents. The vulnerability of a fragile ego, the unthinking behaviors rooted in impulsivity, or the steep decline of emotional meltdowns, can render even the most patient parent looking for tools and techniques to manage their child's unpredictable behaviors.
