She replaces Heather Hanscom, who withdrew due an injury. LeVan, a former field-hockey player at Bowdoin College, began her career as a marathoner in 1998. Now a nursing student at the University of Southern Maine, she recently finished 12th at the 2005 B.A.A. Boston Marathon in 2:43:14, making her the first U.S. female finisher. LeVan also won last fall's Sportshoe Maine Marathon in a personal best time of 2:39:54.
