Of course late dates of gospel composition do not make believers feel comfortable since the reliability of the texts become very questionable. Thus apologists, have tried to provide arguments for earlier dates of the composition of the gospels. We will look at three arguments for early dates of gospel composition; the first is by a "liberal" scholar, while the other two are current favourites among fundamentalist apologists. John A.T. Robinson in his book Redating the New Testament argued for a pre-70 CE dating of the gospels. He argued that Matthew could have been written as early as 40CE with John even earlier. Basically there are two main reasons why he argued for a pre-70CE composition: Unfulfilled Prophecies : Robinson claims that there are prophecies supposedly made by Jesus that were unfulfilled. Had the gospels been written after 70 CE the authors would have fudged or changed the prophecies to make those look like they came true or leave out the prophecies altogether.

Wherever the religion of Christ has found lodgment, the countless songs of Fanny Crosby, the subject of this sketch, have brought comfort to Christian hearts and stirred up inspiration that will abide as long as life shall last. In connection with her meeting these notable men, we might add that Miss Fanny Crosby had the honor of being the first woman whose voice was heard publicly in the [United States] Senate Chamber at Washington. She read a poem there on one occasion. In addition to the thousands of hymns that she has written (about eight thousand poems in all), many of which have not been set to music, she has published four volumes of verses. The first was issued in 1844, and was entitled "The Blind Girl, and Other Poems"; a second volume, "Monterey, and Other Poems," followed in 1849, and the third, "A Wreath of Columbia's Flowers," in 1858. The fourth, "Bells at Evening and Other Verses," with a biographical sketch by Rev. Robert Lowry, and a fine half-tone portrait, in 1897, the sales of which have reached a fourth edition. The book is published by The Biglow & Main Co., New York.
