Ozark Diary:My Life In Teaching and cybercitizens and I began to construct Steve s Stuff homework Helper A short pencil better than long memory says the chinese folk wisdom. http://comp.uark.edu/~sgunter/ozark.html
Extractions: My Ozark Diary (Have a cup with me)I have the first diary that I ever kept. My mother (Emily Jane, isn't it a beautiful name?)gave me a Five Year diary in a cedar box on a Christmas back when Christmas was a special time and I do not mean merely the gifts or the religious events but there was something special in the very air of the season, a rare spirit of charity and grace. I have never lost that tiny cedar chest with its titanic memories of golden days of glorious solitude and joy. I should in like manner begin today a memoir of these final few years of teaching which remain to me. Interwoven with the events of those earlier episodes which come rushing out of memory's precious store. Toon Time I crossed the Information Continental Divide when I began to permit myself to begin a divorce from my previously paper centered life. I actually have seen Negroponte's "atoms" to "bits"(BEING DIGITAL) happen in my own life. It happened like this. It is my normal habit to travel to the university library (Mullins Library) to obtain the very finest scholarly works (using book reviews from TIMES LITERARY SUPPLEMENT, NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW, etc) and haul home as many as my neat book bag (thanks Friend Coil!)will hold (average =20).

Education-Related Newsgroups FAQ (Learn In Freedom!) The comp.* hierarchy is, of course, mostly related to computers and computing. alt.school.homeworkhelp Looking for assistance with schoolwork. http://learninfreedom.org/ed-newsgroups.html
Extractions: Karl M. Bunday A few of the newgroups listed have short descriptions that evidently were added by persons other than the proponents. Suggestions for additions to this FAQ are most welcome. Many thanks to those who saw earlier versions of this FAQ and added to or corrected the information posted earlier. And special thanks to the persons who wrote suggesting that I post a copy of this FAQ on the World Wide WebI have now done so here, http://learninfreedom.org/ed-newsgroups.html at my Web site, which has links to other information about on-line resources for self-education. Some of the newsgroups listed here are very inactive (possibly because they are not carried at many sites). Some are very active, with verifiable frequent postings from multiple countries. But in general the proportion of all Internet users who discuss issues on Usenet has been declining since 1997 as Web-based discussion boards and E-mail mailing lists have become more popular. For a more up-to-date picture of where people discuss education issues on-line, see this site's Discussion Groups about Education Reform and Home-Schooling page.

Extractions: This is a list of all the long descriptions that are still needed. The descriptions should be from 4 and 60 lines and in the present, not the future tense (as many charters are). The longer the description the better, as long as it is not repetitive or drawn out. So if you can either cut and past a charter from a faq or write your own description it would be MOST appreshated. (If the entire is stared you may want to wait before you cut and past a charter, see below) It will help this list go down and will make the Usenet Info Center get somewhere. The longer the description the better, as long as it is not repetitive or drown out. To submit a description start the Subject line with either "D: " or "Desc:" and follow it by the newsgroups name (the space after the colon is important so please don't leave it out.) The body of the message should be the description. The message should be sent to UseNet-b@clark.net For example here would be a submission for rec.arts.startrek.current: From: Kevin Atkinson

Extractions: I feel that the usage of similies to portray the postponed dreams, goals, and desires of the mass population is brilliant. The usage of the the metaphor in the poem's climactic moment is just as ingenious of Hughes. The representation of the black population's frustration, and their imanent explosion is well fitting. These explosions can easily be represented with race riots that so often occured during the times where the Jim Crow Laws were rampid in the United States.

Extractions: USES OF EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE BY ESL PARENTS IN THE UNITED STATES by Hee-Jung Jung Washington State University USA hjung@mail.wsu.edu Introduction Children must be literate in both technology and English to survive in today's information society. An abundance of software is available for educational and recreational purposes. We get the software catalogs in our mailboxes, bookstores, toy stores, or supermarkets. "Sometimes it's packaged in cereal boxes and downloaded from the Internet. Every year, every month, every day there's more" (Stearns, 2001: 1). Children's software with colorful packages, exciting titles, and appealing graphics is everywhere. Based on the interviews, this study will attempt to formulate the suggestions about the educational software from ESL parents directly. Conceptual Context Unfortunately, there is little research about the use of educational software by ESL parents. So in this paper, the meaning about the general use of educational software, which is the learning materials, lack of computer knowledge and guidelines for selecting educational software are used.

High school was ok, but my real love was the stage crew, of which I was electrician. Nobody likes M.I.T. People respect it. I respect it. But like it? Does anyone like taking a drink from a fire hose? I am still in awe of the place. I loved Berkeley and the Bay Area. Did you experience culture shock going from M.I.T. to Berkeley?
