These areas involve research in both fundamental chemistry and applications in high-tech materials. The research gives us opportunities to practice the science of molecular and solid-state materials synthesis and to understand the fundamental mechanistic pathways in the reactions. These research projects have been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), a Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award, a DuPont Young Professor Award, the Department of Energy, and UT's Measurement and Control Engineering Center. We utilize organometallic reagents extensively and have a continuing interest in organoborane chemistry. A special emphasis is placed on reactions which can be utilized to incorporate short-lived, positron emitting isotopes of use in modern medical imaging techniques such as positron emission tomography (PET). In recent years we have developed new, rapid synthetic routes to complex organic molecules containing nitrogen-13 (t =10 minutes) and oxygen-15 (t =2 minutes) which are physiologically active. We are currently examining new methods for incorporating carbon-11 (t

(The SIRCh chapter titles are in boldface type; CHEMINFO main works are listed in bold capital letters.) Additional index terms are used sparingly in this index. Thus, far fewer terms can be searched here compared to the thousands of words found in the full-text indexes on CHEMINFO. Nevertheless, a search for an Internet resource will often be more clearly focused in this index. Think of this as a back-of-the-book index. Select a Letter:
