Rescues take these cats and have them vet checked for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Infection, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, wormed and groomed. Cat Fanciers: Somali: Cat Breed FAQ and BreedersA petquality Somali may show some tabby striping on its legs, tail or throat . CCA (Canadian cat Association) Somali Breed http://www.fanciers.com/breed-faqs/somali-faq.html
Extractions: Author: Barbara French, Tarantara Cattery, USA, Tarantara@catlover.com Comments and Editing: Elina Laine, Bitterblues Somalis, Finland, ellaine@tre.tele.nokai.fi Last updated: July 16, 1997 Picture at right: Ruddy male Somali, GC,RW Tadofa Kalahari of Rampageous. Breeder: Bethany Tod. Photo used with permission. The Somali is a moderate-sized cat with soft, medium-length fur and a bushy tail which has sometimes earned the cat the nickname "fox cat". Somalis are also referred to as "longhaired Abyssinians", since Abyssinians are the "parent breed" of the Somali breed. Somalis are sweet-faced, lithe, muscular cats with an overall impression of alertness, intelligence and keen curiousity. A standing Somali should almost give the impression that it's standing on its toes. The best term for a Somali would be "moderate" medium hair, medium size, medium type (neither cobby nor svelte). Somalis are ticked cats. Each hair on their bodies has bands of darker color, sometimes as many as 10 or 12 in a Somali. The ticking is darker than the ground color, giving the impression of a gloss or shimmer to the cat. Although ticking is a type of tabby, the show-quality Somali has no stripes on its body. A pet-quality Somali may show some tabby striping on its legs, tail or throat. The ticking usually causes a darker shine of color along the cat's back and on the tip of its brushy tail, and gives the cat an exotic, wild look. This shimmery line of darker color is sometimes referred to as an eel stripe. Although the fur might look coarse, it's extremely soft, almost rabbit-like.
Cat Fanciers: Manx: Cat Breed FAQ Its origins as a working cat are still strongly seen in the breed, If youplan to show your pet in the championship (or whole cat) class, http://www.fanciers.com/breed-faqs/manx-faq.html
Extractions: Sansq Zoser - Odd-eyed black and white van male The Manx is a stocky, solid cat with a dense double coat (long or short), a compact body, very short back, hind legs that are visibly longer than the front legs, big bones, a wide chest, and greater depth of flank (sides of the cat nearest the rear) than other cats. The standard weight for males is 10-12 lbs. and for females is 8-10 lbs. The Manx head is broad-jowled with round eyes, and the ear-set is distinct to the breedwhen viewed from the back, the ears and the top of the head form a "cradle" or "rocker" shape. The ears themselves are broad at the base and taper to a narrower, rounded tip. This is the general appearance of all Manx cats, regardless of whether they are show-quality or not. Although the completely tailless, or "rumpy," Manx is the desired show type, Manx may also have tails. A litter of kittens may include a rumpy, a "riser" (has a bit of cartilage at the base of the spine, under the skin, that may be felt when the cat is happy), a "stumpy" (any tail length not long, but visibly a tail), and a "longy," and all are Manxes. Only rumpy and riser Manx may be shown in American competition, and the riser's cartilage must not stop the judge's hand when the back is stroked.

Cornish Rex Cats: Breed Introduction Cornish Rex Breed History. Cornish Rex cats originated in Cornwall, England, Initially, Cornish Rex cats had been crossed with some other breeds, http://www.finetuning.com/articles/1188-cornish-rex-cats-breed-introduction.html
Extractions: Have you seen those curly cats with big ears? Have you thought of maybe getting one some day and wondered whether they need any special care? If you have, you will find this article helpful. Cornish Rex is one of those breeds that you either love or hate from the first sight. âOh, what a cutie!â and âOh, what an ugly cat!â are the two most common reactions, and it is usually impossible to make the holders of these two opinions understand each other. Cornish Rex cats are famous for their curly (wavy) fur, very short and extremely soft to the touch. Their whiskers are short and curly as well. Another prominent feature is the catsâ very large ears, which, combined with the egg-shaped head, long nose, and big, thoughtful eyes, make them look like aliens from the outer space. Their lean bodies are strong and muscular. Some compare them to the long-necked cats depicted on old Egyptian drawings, but no, Cornish Rex do not come from Egypt. Cornish Rex cats originated in Cornwall, England, in 1950. Despite seeming similarities, they are different from and not related to the Devon Rex breed. On July 21, 1950 an unusual kitten was found in a litter of barn cats: his short orange and white coat was curly. Unlike the other four kittens in the litter who were the common round-faced, stocky domestic shorthairs, the curly one had a long, slim body, long legs, narrow face, and large ears. Nina Ennismore, the owner of the mother cat, had found the odd mutation attractive and decided to try breeding such cats. Her attempt was successful.

About Persian Rescue With their flowing coats and sweet, loving personalities, many cat fanciers consider Persians to be the preferred "lap cat" and the quintessential glamor cat. Persians have long been the darlings of the cat fancy, representing more than 60% of all cats registered. Unfortunately, this popularity has not escaped the notice of the commercial and back yard breeders, who may not properly train the new owners in the art of grooming and maintaining a healthy, well mannered Persian nor educate new owners in cat care and the responsibilities that cat ownership entails. Commercial and back yard breeders may also not know how, or care, to breed to maintain health and temperament. As a result, it is estimated that as many as 80% of all cats arriving at Rescues are Persians. This Persian Cat Rescue Website has a very specific mission to support Persian Cat Breed Rescue efforts.
