Extractions: Attention: Rens Waters, professor Applications are invited for a post-doc position in INFRARED astronomy at the Astronomical Institute of the University of Amsterdam for a period of two years, with a possible extension of a third year. The position is offered in collaboration with the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute of Groningen University. Both institutes are involved in the construction and commissioning of the VISIR and MIDI instruments for the Very Large Telescope (VLT) and VLT Interferometer of the European Southern Observatory. The post-doc will play an active role in the commissioning and science programmes of both instruments, in close collaboration with the MIDI and VISIR teams, in particular with Jan-Willem Pel (Groningen). The Amsterdam and Groningen institutes are part of the Netherlands Research School for Astronomy (NOVA). Research in the infrared and sub-mm astronomy group in Amsterdam focusses on circumstellar matter; the group consists of two staff, two post-docs and 8 graduate students.
