The vision came to be, with the desire to access grant monies as well as share the benefits of increased buying power, professional experience, and varied library collection resources. In 2002, after a few meetings, our membership grew to 10 libraries, but later one institution dropped out. During the development of our Interlibrary Use Agreement, we decided to create an organization which was legally non-binding, so we called ourselves a cooperative. Students, faculty, staff and community patrons from other TLCA member institutions have the privilege to freely use cooperative members' materials, as they agree to abide by individual library policies.
