Algebra PowerPoint Lessons, Teacher Lesson Plans That Integrate Technology And H PowerPoint lessons to purchase, designed to help teachers integrate technology and improve student performance and interest in algebra. plans meet state standards and can be modified to suit teachers' need http://members.cox.net/algebrapowerpoint1/index.htm
Extractions: These PowerPoint lessons have been designed by an algebra teacher with ten years experience in the classroom. They are meant to help teachers meet rigorous state standards and integrate technology into their instruction. E-mail: JimWenk@Cox.net Here is a collection of PowerPoint lessons that I have written and currently use in my own classroom. They complement McDougal Littell's Algebra 1 Concepts and Skills by Larson, Boswell, Kanold, and Stiff, but they may be adapted for use with any algebra textbook. Deliver lessons to students that meet rigorous state standards in a time efficient manner. These lessons are specifically designed to fill in gaps in understanding and go beyond the book. Many concepts that are tough to learn or are inadequately explained in the book are elaborated on in these PowerPoint lessons. Most lessons consist of about 5 to 8 slides and are easily presented in a 30 to 50 minute period. Significantly raise your student's year-end test scores.

Insights Into Algebra 1 . Workshop 5 lesson Plan 1 The X Factor Trinomials and algebra Tiles lesson Plan 2 Curses and Re-Curses! It s Happening Again. http://www.learner.org/channel/workshops/algebra/workshop5/lessonplan.html
Extractions: Lesson Plan 1: The X Factor - Trinomials and Algebra Tiles This lesson will teach students to factor trinomial expressions of the form x + bx + c. Students will use algebra tiles to identify the binomial factors and the graphing calculator to verify the result. In addition, students will identify the x-intercepts and y-intercepts of each trinomial function and explore relationships between the trinomial x + bx + c and its factored form (x + m)(x + n). Lesson Plan 2: Curses and Re-Curses! It's Happening Again. In this lesson, students learn about basic recursion by exploring patterns in the data they generate from two simple probability-based experiments.

Extractions: The unit on graphing linear equations will begin with students learning to manipulate an equation into slope-intercept form. This will be accomplished through classroom discussion and guided practice from an overhead projector and the chalkboard. Students will then have independent practice with a lesson from their algebra text. Another series of lessons will follow on graphing equations and the various methods of graphing a linear equation. The proposed lesson will follow after becoming familiar with slope intercept form, manipulating an equation, and graphing equations. Students will participate in a cooperative learning activity of matching a graphic display with an equation. A Kagan Activity; corner; will then be used for students to practice graphing an equation. After the review students will reinforce the concepts learned through the use of a graphing calculator. Future concepts such as parallel and perpendicular lines will also be introduced. Through the use of a LitePro and one computer, students will be introduced in the classroom to the computer program

Extractions: MATH ANGLE PROPERTIES OF SCALENE TRIANGLES GRADES: 4-9 Draw ten different triangles. Label each vertex of the triangle using numbers one, two, three. Put the numbers at the vertex of each angle, outside the triangle. Using your protractor, measure all angles of each triangle. Record the measurements of each angle inside the triangle. Complete the following chart: Triangle, Angle 1, Angle 2, Angle 3, Sum of the three angles Record any patterns that you find regarding the angles of a triangle. This lesson can be varied to determine the properties of isoceles, and equilateral triangles as well. This lesson creates ownership for the student, ensuring that they will never Forget these properties. bryanbaird@hotmail.com THE MATHEMATICS BEHIND MAZES GRADES: 7-11 The Mathematics Behind Mazes examines Euler's Formula (Points + Regions = Lines + Parts), and provides the students with a chance to design and construct a model of a maze, to practice equations and to obtain a better understanding of coordinate planes. Have students list any characteristics of mazes which they already know.

Lesson Ideas from Teachers' Edition This data base contains materials designed help teach a Chance course or a more standard introductory probability or statistics course. The Chance course is a case study quantitative literacy course developed cooperatively by Middlebury, Grinnell, Spelman, University of California San Diego, University of Minnesota, and Dartmouth. The aim of Chance is to make students more informed, and critical, readers of current news that uses probability and statistics as reported in daily newspapers such as "The New York Times" and current journals and magazines such as "Chance", "Science", "Nature", and the "New England Journal of Medicine". Some of our documents are available in Adobe Acrobat's Portable Document Format. To read these documents you will have to download Free Adobe Reader, which is easily downloaded from this web site.
