Image Credits THE AFRICAN QUEEN is one of those movies that has it all: adventure, humor and romance. The only pairing of two of classic Hollywood's most legendary stars, one wonders after seeing this film, why no one had discovered Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart 's incredible on-screen rapport before, and why no one bothered to take advantage of it after. This picture of Bogart and Hepburn in THE AFRICAN QUEEN was done by Jeffery Fain and appears here with his permission. Based on the novel by C.S. Forrester, THE AFRICAN QUEEN is set in central Africa during World War I. It is the story of an English missionary and spinster, Rose Sayer ( Hepburn ), in who is forced to flee her mission after German troops destroy the village. A Canadian supplier, Charlie Alnutt ( Bogart ), offers to take her down river to civilization in his little river steamer, The African Queen. The contrast in their personalities (Rose is a very proper Edwardian English missionary and Charlie is a scruffy, gin-drinking seaman) becomes the first major source of their disagreements, which only worsen when Rose decides she wants to do her patriotic duty and follow the river all the way down to the lake where she plans to sink the German cruiser guarding it with homemade torpedoes. Needless to say, Charlie doesn't take to this in the slightest, but his conscience gets the better of him and he agrees to humor Rose until she discovers for herself how futile the whole idea is. Overall it makes for a great movie nominated for four Academy Awards in 1951.

Extractions: Dravidian, Mande and Elamite By Clyde Winters In this Web page we learn about the linguistic relationship between the Dravdian, Mande, Elamite and Sumerian languages. THE GENETIC UNITY OF BLACK AFRICAN ,ELAMITE, DRAVIDIAN AND SUMERIAN LANGUAGES by Clyde A. Winters A genealogical relationship exist between the Black African, Dravidian, Elamite and Sumerian languages. This is not surprising because African languages were used by Rawlinson, to decipher the cuneiform script. We must consider the historical link between languages assumed to possess a genealogical relationship, although they are separated by thousands of miles. The anthropological factors involved in determining a genealogical relationship is the scientific study of the cognate origin, and the physical, social and cultural development and behavior of related groups. This has already been done in the earlier chapters in regards to the Black African, Puntite and Dravidian languages. We have already shown that there is a connection between the basic vocabularies and identical constituent structures and grammatical categories. The Elamites, Dravidians, Sumerians and Manding are all of

We present the catalog in three sections: At the bottom of each page you will find navigational buttons and text to help you investigate and move between the three parts of the site. Cutting to the Essence and Shaping for the Fire are each a series of several pages which you can move through simply by clicking the MORE button at the bottom of each page of the Yoruba or Akan sections. The Doorway section, however, is the section in which we not only introduce the exhibit and ourselves, but also give you easy access to the scaffolding beneath the exhibit-essays, and is thus not sequential. So at the bottom of pages in that section, in addition to the buttons that will enable you to move to the Yoruba or Akan material, you will see the entire contents of Doorway section, just as you see below in the Peer Beyond the Doorway list. Finally, with few exceptions (notably in the
