Extractions: Jacob Gilman was educated as a soloist at the conservatory in Moscow. In 1980, he emigrated to Germany, where from 1981 to 1983 he was the principal concert master of the Bamberg Philharmonic Orchestra. In this position he also gave solo performances all over Europe, the United States, South America and Asia. He is a professor at the Richard Strauss Conservatory. As a member of the Glinka String Quartet, he became a prize-winner at the Liege International Competition. In 1995, he recorded a CD which was produced by the Bavarian Broadcasting Company. Christina Khimm Mark Lakirovich is Associate Director of Education Programs at the Kaufman Center, New York;Music Director and faculty member of the Special Music School of America, New York;Conductor of the Lucy Moses Chamber Orchestra; and Visiting Professor, State College of Music, Kiev, Ukraine. He has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician in many European countries, Israel, Australia and USA, and at the major Music Festivals, including Vienna, Salzburg, Zurich, Geneva and Amsterdam. He is a former member of Stuttgart Philharmonic Trio and Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, former Associate Concertmaster, Queensland Theater Orchestra and Concertmaster, Queensland Pops Orchestra.

Shorter Works for the Violin However, I begin with a recording of two very important longer works: the two last violin concertos of Mozart , which Dr. Suzuki placed as Volume 9 and 10 s in his sequence of violin study. There are many recordings of the Mozart violin concertos, but the one I have chosen is that of Oscar Shumsky , with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Yan Pascal Tortelier, on Nimbus Records, NIM 5009 The Kreisler Album, Joshua Bell, violin; Paul Coker, piano; Decca (London) #444409 . Wonderful recording of short romantic works by Fritz Kreisler (of Kreisler Highway fame). There are many good recordings of these pieces , including those by Kreisler himself, but this CD is stunning! Extractions: by Ong Yong Hui Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst is probably a name unfamiliar except to a few. Indeed, his works are still undeservingly languishing in obscurity. He is a violin prodigy who had his debut at the age of nine, and was the influence of the violin wizard Paganini after their meeting five years later. Ernst's musical output concentrates on the violin, and includes some string quartets (which to my knowledge has never been recorded), and a violin concerto recorded by Aaron Rosand under Vox Box.
