Extractions: Khuner: Well, my family on both sides come from Moravia, southern Moravia, to wit, a little hamlet by the name of Bisenz [now called Bzenec, in Czechoslovakia], where the Khuners (that's my father's family) and the Frankls (my grandmother's family) come from. My mother's come from northern Moravia, from Moravksa Ostrava. Now, the German population in Moravia were practically exclusively Jewish. The Czechs were the native population and the German-speaking were the Jews. And they tried to get to Vienna, because in Vienna you had much more chance to improve yourself, financially and culturally, in civilization; Vienna was the capital. So both the family of my father and my mother emigratedI think my grandfather on my father's side, and my mother on my mother's side, went to Vienna. And they both were quite musical, they liked music, they went to concerts, they learned their instruments. My mother was quite a good violinist; my father was a fair violinist, a little of a pianist, and he played the flute; and they played in amateur orchestras. And they wanted to have a son who was a musician. At that time the Philharmonic conductor was Felix Weingartner, and my mother said I was named after him because he was so fascinating a conductor. So, I obviously was very talented. My fingers were fast, I had very good ears, a good memory; I could read music before I could read German. And when my father and mother played sonatas, and they didn't quite know what the rhythms were, and so I could help them. I was about five years old at that time.

Extractions: November 10, 2003 Tennessean arts writer Alan Bostick profiles a performance by the Belmont Camerata Muscale in this piece that ran Sunday. When it comes to the Belmont Camerata Musicale, there are a few things fans of the group know they can count on. First of all, they're aware that artistic director and violinist Elisabeth Small will fashion a challenging, imaginative program that steers clear of the ordinary. Second, the players, typically Belmont faculty members and their guests, will offer a committed, practiced reading. And third, the setting, usually the elegant confines of Belmont Mansion, will only add to the experience. Small and the Camerata are back in action tomorrow night, and the only thing that's different this time is the venue. The one deviation from the winning formula is that tomorrow's concert will take place not in the mansion but in the adjacent Massey Auditorium, deemed more appropriate for this particular program. Why?

Gerald Schwarzs conducting is refined and passionate, and there is some electrifying choral singing from the Ernst Senff Choir, above all, in the vast fugue that follows the scene between Abraham and Isaac. Venice Research - Articles A Venetian violinist Luigi Enrico Ferro and the Vivaldi Renaissance The father was owner of one of the most important glass factory of the island, http://www.veniceresearch.com/ferro.htm
Extractions: The violinist that more properly rappresents the Venice of this period is Luigi Enrico Ferro. He born on Murano in 1903 , the small island near Venice famous for the art - glass productions. The father was owner of one of the most important glass factory of the island, but avowing the son' s musical turn, starts him to violin school at Conservatorio of Venice " Benedetto Marcello ". On 1917, for reason dued to the first world war, Ferro leaves Venice for Milano where continues the violin study with the famous Teresina Tua ( pupil of Massart ). She understand the potentiality of the boy .Coming back in the same years to Venice, thanks to the help of Mrs. Tua , Ferro continues to study with Francesco de Guarnieri , (1867 - 1931) important violinist (pupil also of Cèsar Frank at Paris for composition studies) pupil in his turn of Raffaello Frontali ( 1849 - 1916 ),appreciated violinist in his tours with Liszt ,friend of Verdi and Wagner. On this regard it is interesting to remark how all the famous italian violinists of the past ages have been linked inside the different italian violin schools in an unbroken chain (teacher-pupil-teacher ) that goes on in the past till Veracini , Corelli and the most important violinists of 18 th. century. Like for luthiers, also for violinists the tradition of playing has been handed down from generation to generation maintening the taste for the italian style also with the differences of the various schools an the personal contribute of the violinists.

It tells the story of two boys being raised in a rural district by their father, who mourns the death of his wife. Further compications ensue when the hardworking fathers older ex-convict brother.pays an unexpected visit and is looking to settle an old score. Producer Edward R Pressman approached Philip Glass to write the score and after reading the script Glass visited the set in the swamps of Georgia to get a feel for the film. The resulting score combines immaculate string orchestration, the simple purity of the childrers voices and the gritty drone of the didgeridoo to create the atmospheric mix of mystery, sensitivity and grunge that the film required. With its tonal complexity and intensity, the score becomes as integral to the suspense-driven narrative as the character portrayal and brilliant direction contained within the film.
