The GMAT helps graduate business schools assess the qualifications of applicants to an MBA program or any another advanced business program. The GMAT scores are considered a reliable predictor of the applicants academic performance in the first year of graduate management program. Nevertheless, the test does not require any particular knowledge in the business field as mentioned in the GMAT Information Bulletin, on page 5. The GMAT fee is now $ 250 according to the information available on the GMAT web page: http://www.mba.com What is the test like? According to the information bulletin and the data made available by the Educational Testing Service on the Internet, the computer-adaptive GMAT includes verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing questions. 75 minutes are available for the 37 quantitative questions, 75 minutes for 41 verbal questions and 30 minutes for each of the two analytical writing topics. The quantitative section relies on data sufficiency and problem solving questions while the verbal section includes questions testing reading comprehension, sentence correction, and critical reasoning. In the essays you will need to analyse an argument (your views on the topic are irrelevant!) and to analyse an issue, respectively. In the latter essay you are invited to present and explain your personal views on the issue, and consider various perspectives as you develop your own approach to it.

Retaking the GMAT What is GMAT? Top The Graduate Management Admission Test is a Standardized test that measures verbal, mathematical and analytical writing skills. It is intended to help the graduate schools of business assess the potential of applicants for advanced study in business and management. Nearly 900 management institutes all over the world (almost all of them in the US) require GMAT scores from each applicant. The GMAT tests the fundamental skills - Reasoning and Comprehension included - and does not require any subject-specific theoretical study. The test is designed in such a way that it would be unlike any other test you would have taken at school or college. First, the test has no question paper or answer sheets, nor does it have the same set of questions for all the examinees. Further, it does not give you the option of not answering a question (unless, of course, you run out of time at the end). The test is scored out of 800 (in multiples of 10), and most scores fall in the range of 500-600. However, a score of even 800 is not unheard of!
