CSE computational Science and engineering (CSE), is an interdisciplinary area consistingof application area, computer science, and applied mathematics. http://www.tkk.fi/Opinnot/LTT/CSE.html
Extractions: In Finnish Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), is an interdisciplinary area consisting of application area, computer science, and applied mathematics. Its aim is to obtain new scientific information and technical practices using computational methods. These include mathematical models, simulation, optimization, together with interpretation and visualisation of data. CSE has become essential methodology in the development of most branches of science and technology. Now it has become also an important part of engineering education. At HUT an interdisciplinary CSE program has been set up. This MSc program starts from 3rd year of studies and is followed by a graduate program. It is hoped and expected that most fields of engineering will be represented in this program. Teaching of the CSE program is given jointly by Institute of Mathematics, Laboratory of Computer and Information Science, Laboratory of Computational Engineering, and the Laboratory of Physics. The studies contain Tools of analysis, stochastic processes
Extractions: The Collaborative Computational Projects (CCPs), assist universities in developing, maintaining and distributing computer programs and promoting the best computational methods. They are funded by the UK's EPSRC, PPARC and BBSRC Research Councils. Each focuses on a specific area of research. back to top

Extractions: Results from a 3-D simulation of the Space Shuttle solid rocket booster 52 milliseconds after the igniter is triggered. The propellant and gas domains are cut in half lengthwise to show a cross section of the interior of the head-end segment. The igniter is the gray and red object at the upper left. The rest of the visible surface represents the propellant, whose geometry includes 11 slots (4 are visible) which increase the burning surface area (and therefore the thrust) at liftoff. Further down, the geometry changes to a cylindrical bore. The colors (purple - magenta - blue - cyan) indicate the surface temperature from 350 to 500 degrees K. Also shown is the gas temperature, represented as a translucent surface (to allow geometric details to show through), whose colors (green - yellow - red) correspond to the range 300 K to 1700 K.
