But then the Olympics finished and people kept coming. They wanted more pictures of Robin. And more rambling posts about nothing in particular. Naturally, we were happy to oblige... Robin up BT Tower Yesterday evening, Robin, the wife and I were invited to a party up at the top of the BT Tower in London. It's a huge tower that stands head and shoulders above London - 189 metres high - and isn't normally open to visitors (they closed it as a tourist attraction after a bomb was placed in the toilets in 1971).

Extractions: There was a very special quilt show in Atlanta in the spring of 1996. It was the display, at the Nicholson Gallery of the Atlanta History Center, of almost 400 quilts made in honor of the Centennial Olympic Games held here that year. The show, entitled "The Olympic Games Quilts, America's Welcome to the World," continued through May 19. It was the result of an effort organized by the Georgia Quilt Project four years ago, shortly after the Barcelona Olympics. That group, formed in the 1980s to document the state's quilts and quilters, wanted to find a way to commemorate, through quilts, the first Olympic Games to be held in the South. Working with the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG), the Quilt Project proposed that the quilters of Georgia make a gift of quilts to the athletes and the Olympic organizers of each of the nearly 200 countries participating in the Atlanta Olympics. Two quilts would be presented to each country one to the athlete who serves as the flagbearer for the nation in the opening ceremonies, and the other to that country's Olympic committee. The JPEG images on this page are snapshots I made when visiting the show in the Spring of 1996. Clicking on the images will bring up a larger version of the image shown. The quilts were not hung in such a way that all of them could be seen, so these are not meant to be documentary photos, but just to give the flavor of this remarkable quilt show. The program/catalogue for the exhibit is a 144-page book in the large-format style of quilt books entitled

The final day, Saturday 28 August 2004, saw the medal deciding race 11 in the Keelboat Men - Star, and Multihull Open - Tornado taking place on course areas D and C on the Saronic. Roman HAGARA and Hans Peter STEINACHER won their gold medal with indominatable style winning the final race 11 today, proving a point you could say. Coming in second for the silver was John LOVELL and Charlie OGLETREE (USA), with Santiago LANGE and Carlos ESPINOLA (ARG) the bronze. In the Keelboat Men event in the Star, the gold medal had already been won with a race to spare on Thursday 26, so the battle today was for the silver and bronze. A superb performance saw the Canadian pair of ROSS MACDONALD and Mike WOLFS win the Silver medal, with the French crew of Xavier ROHART and Pascal RAMBEAU winning bronze. The Olympic Sailing Competition was a spectacular affair with 400 sailors representing 61 nations competing on the waters of the Saronic, Athens, Greece. 126 races were held for 11 sailing events over 15 days of racing, with 54 athletes receiving medals. A superb effort from Great Britain saw them comfortably at the top of the medal table for the second consecutive Olympiad, with two Gold, one Silver and two Bronze medals, followed by Brazil with two Gold medals. Host nation Greece was ranked fifth with one Gold and one Silver medal. All eleven events sailed their scheduled races, eleven races apiece except the 49er which had sixteen. For a complete wrap -

This film was produced by Earth on Fire Productions , a company owned and operated by two former collegiate women ice hockey players. Owners, Bree Cheatham and Courtney King both played four years of Division I college hockey at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts between 1993 and 1997. In 1997 they ended their college careers with an ECAC championship title. Both girls played hockey since they were very young and participated in both development camps and in USA Hockey tryouts for the U.S. Women's National and Olympic Teams since the program began in 1990.
