Extractions: San Antonio Combat Shuai Chiao Institute San Antonio Combat Shuai Chiao (shwy jow) Institute is a lineage school. Much of the authentic Martial Arts taught at our Institute have been passed directly from Grandmaster Ch'ang Tung Sheng to Austin based Master John Wang, and from him to Head Instructor Kirk Woller. We feel privileged to have access to training and knowledge of this caliber. This school is based on the belief that knowledge and training methods can be openly shared and preserved for future generations. It is our intent to create a forum where students from various backgrounds and experience levels can come to train and to learn, without arrogance or ego, and share their various insights and expertise unique to the Martial Arts. Our goal is that students develop a well-rounded base of combat attributes as well as an open-minded conceptual understanding of the nature and training for physical confrontation. Furthermore, once the student has acquired foundational skills, the emphasis is always placed on integrative skill, that is, sparring against real, uncooperative training partners using punches, kicks, locks, and throws. All training is taught and learned within a safe, friendly, and fun environment. Contact Phone Number: Gene Lopez (210) 348-8331 Email: kungfutofu@hotmail.com

JudoForum.com > Shaui Chiao/Jiao I used to work out with a guy that had extensive training in shuai chiao. In shuai chiao you assume a kind of fetal position when you fall. http://judoforum.com/lofiversion/index.php/t9945.html
Extractions: Thanks Gaijin Judoka Mar 17 2006, 02:56 PM I used to work out with a guy that had extensive training in Shuai Chiao. I used to train the techniques for a few hours a week for about a year, maybe less. I would say the big difference is that one is much less concerned about how uke lands. They have many throws in which you land on your chest and face. Off balancing and footwork were almost identical. Ukemi is very different. In Shuai Chiao you assume a kind of fetal position when you fall. Many of the throws you just kind of curl up into a ball. I was training in a tjj at the time so it was hard for me not to use japanese style ukemi but I remember the ukemi in Shuai Chiao being effective. Also they classify the techniques by what they do as opposed to Judo which classifies based on the primary part of the body involved. Mar 17 2006, 04:24 PM Is this the thread you mean?

Extractions: skip to main skip to sidebar Shuai Chiao also know as Chinese fast Wrestling is one of the oldest Chinese martial arts with a history of over 4,000 years. The first military recorded of its use was when the Yellow Emperor of China fought against the rebels, 2,697BC. They used horned helmets and gored their opponents while using a primitive form of grappling. This early style of recorded combat was first called Chiao Ti which means butting with horns. This military fighting style was the first set of fighting techniques that was used by the Imperial Army, which consisted of throws, hand and foot strikes, seizing joints, attacking vital parts and breaking joints in context of throwing. All of these elements of fighting skills were practiced in training during the winter months and used in hundreds of battles in ancient China. It is the root and the foundation of Chinese martial arts. Over the years Shuai chiao gradually became a sport in the Qin Dynasty.
