This peculiar activity can be enjoyed by coastal visitors this Easter weekend at Mile 8, just east of the main road between Swakopmund and Henties Bay, where the Landyachting EcoFun team will operate from Friday to Monday from 11h00 onwards. Landyachting is a new addition to the plethora of adventure activities offered at the coast. While the howling coastal winds often discourage other outdoor activities, it creates ideal conditions for landyachting. The sport is done in a wind-propelled two-wheeled cart with a sail - not much different from windsurfing. According to David Marquis, manager and instructor, it is a very safe sport that can even be enjoyed by children as young as 10, depending on their size and weight. Training takes no more than about 15 minutes. Tour guides and operators who book sessions for their clients this weekend are invited to enjoy a free ride. Bookings, requests, special group rates and activity presentations can be arranged with Marquis at 081 128 8206.
