Check out my tribute to the tough-soled pair who earned the nickname "The Barefoot Sisters." JULIA "BUTTERFLY" HILL: This young lady is a barefooter extraordinaire. She spent two years living in a California redwood in a crusade to protect California's last remaining old-growth redwood forest from destruction by Pacific Lumber, a powerful logging company known for extensive violations of environmental regulations. She always climbed barefoot in the tree, which she named Luna, even in the dead of winter, noting that she "has to have the connection." Her hike from Luna to a triumphant press conference at the end of her protest was also done bare-soled. Check out her new inspirational guide, "One Makes The Difference" (available from the

Hey There, welcome and thanks for visiting my page. I hope you find my postings interesting and worth your while to keep coming back. Kick your shoes off and make yourself at home. Well, finally we got some snow here in Toronto. After a very long and mild fall, we got our worth of cold weather and fair deal of the white stuff barefooters like me dread every year! At any rate, I ventured tonight out into the cold backyard to experience a bit of the fresh snow. I must say, I wish I had more tolerance to frigid temperatures since I do like the sensation of fresh snow under my feet. After only 1 minute, however, my feet start feeling very uncomfortable and my toes get a burning sensation... At -11°C, I felt good wearing only my boxer pants (yes, I did 'dare' outside the house in my jammies!), a t-shirt and a winter jacket. I guess I could have stayed longer out there but I gave up partly because my toes were screaming "help! Heeeelp!!" and partly because I was itching to come back into the house to write this note. Plus it's like past 2 am and I reeeeally need to go to bed!

Extractions: 3-Event Champion, Figure-8, and Racing In only a few short years, Keith St. Onge has revolutionized the sport of barefoot waterskiing. His introduction of new tricks such as the line step 360 and 720 have forced the World Barefoot Council to re-write the rule books and add tricks that were previously thought impossible. No other barefooter pushes the envelope of human capability like Keith. He continues to push the World Trick record well beyond ,000 pts In 2006, he set a new World Record in slalom of 20.6. A record that had stood for 12 years. He also set a pending World Record in Tricks of 10,300. Keith doesn't seem to buy into the theory that the barefooting has reached it's limit.
Barefoot - The American Barefoot Club Although barefoot slalom, tricks and jumping water ski events are very similar to traditional events, the major difference here is, you guessed it, http://www.usawaterski.com/pages/divisions/barefoot/BarefootHistory.htm
Extractions: Official Web Site Barefoot.org About Barefooting History and Description ... USA Water Ski Home Although barefoot slalom, tricks and jumping water ski events are very similar to traditional events, the major difference here is, you guessed it, participants do not wear skis. In the slalom event, an athlete earns points for crossing the boat wakes in a course that does not have buoys. In tricks, an athlete attempts to perform as many tricks as he can during two 15-second passes. Each trick has a pre-assigned point value and an athlete may perform each trick only once. The athlete who earns the most points wins the event. In the jumping event, the ramp height is only 18 inches (45.5 centimeters), but the boat speed is more than 40 miles per hour, which is feet-burning fast! Faster boat speeds are required for an athlete to plane on his two bare feet. There are no hand tools needed to make barefoot equipment repairs, only a tube of super glue. If a blister or cut opens on the bottom of an athlete's foot, standard procedure is to glue it shut now to finish skiing and deal with the stitches later. In addition to slalom, tricks and jumping, barefoot athletes also participate in figure eight competitions and endurance events where the athlete who stays up the longest is the winner.
