What aiki Jujitsu, a traditional Japanese martial art, is the forefather of modern students to learn jujitsu at their own pace in a fun, safe environment. http://www.geocities.com/aikiju-jitsu/What.html
Extractions: Aiki Jujitsu ? What is it? Aiki Jujitsu, a traditional Japanese martial art, is the forefather of modern Aiki styles and martial arts such as Aikido, Judo and Hapkido. Aiki Jujitsu students learn to avoid conflict whenever possible. They also learn to take control of difficult situations and to eliminate the threat to their personal safety when violence is unavoidable. Rather than meeting force with force, students learn the use of circular motion and redirection of an attacker's energy. This helps neutralize the attacker?s size/strength advantage. A wide variety of techniques are taught to prepare students for a broad range of situations including everything from the basic bully to knife and gun attacks. Students learn to use all of their natural weapons effectively (eg. hands, feet, knees, elbows). The art of Aiki Jujitsu includes striking techniques, blocks, throws, joint locks, chokes, nerve attacks and more. No competitive fighting is involved. Self-defense techniques are always practised in co-operation with training partners, allowing students to learn ju-jitsu at their own pace in a fun, safe environment. The History of Aiki Jujitsu
San Francisco Zen Budokai Aiki Jujitsu The complete Zen Budokai aiki Ju Jitsu syllabus of techniques, Danny Abramovitch s Martial Arts Sites On The Web , aikiJu Jitsu section. http://www.zenbudokai.com/
Extractions: This is a short section on the origins of Zen Budokai, excerpted from the document 20th Century Ju-Jitsu , By Russ St. Hilaire. San Francisco Zen Budokai has a lot of things going for it. Our instructors are above all else, great teachers. Many of them, and indeed many of our students are degreed martial artists in other arts. This brings a lot of different influences and viewpoints to the instruction, which makes our practice both realistic and interesting. This isn't a rigid or boring class; we have a lot of fun here, and we promote an environment of safety and mutual respect. In addition, our membership has grown mostly by word-of-mouth, so the class sizes are (intentionally) small and the quality of both instructors and students is excellent. Extractions: AIKIDO or AIKIJUTSU - Way of Harmony AIKIDO is a term better known than AIKIJUTSU. While AIKIDO is a modern system restructured by O Sensei Ueshiba, for a pacifist society based on Aikijutsu from Daito Ryu school, Aikijutsu represents the old martial / military samurai tradition, in real life and death battles. In fact, AIKIDO is the result of that O Sensei began to teach after receiving Menkyokaiden (the final level) of Daito Ryu school. So, it is about a self vision, revolutionary, opening the martial art to the large public. This way had been opened by another visionary master Jigoro Kano considered as modern Judo founder (originated from some Jujutsu schools at that time). The AIKIJUTSU of Takeda school is also the fundaments of the Daito Ryu school, appeared in 16th century, at the same time with Takeda family decline, after the death of famous general Takeda Shingen. Aikijutsu is a real military discipline, tested by many generations on the battlefields, in life or death fights. The Aiki technique is obvious derived from sword techniques, so it is ensued from the Aiki principle legend. Even if a lot of medieval schools influenced each other, the Aiki principles followed a very pure development, strictly inside Takeda school, where they were attentively preserved. The perfect coordination and typically Aiki harmony were only the final level of a method, based on suppleness, lack of balance forms and the use of opposite force, divided on many levels:

THE ORIGINS OF AIKI JU-JUTSU It is believed that the traditional Japanese martial art Daitoryu originated within the family of Emperor Seiwa who reigned from 858 to 876 AD. In the eleventh century, a descendent named Shinra Saburo Minamoto no Yoshimitsu advanced the art through the study of human anatomy. He dissected the bodies of war dead and executed criminals to develop effective strikes, holds and joint locks which he incorporated into his family's martial art. His eldest son, Yoshikiyo, moved to the village of Takeda in Koma and there the Daitoryu tradition was handed down within the Takeda family for generations. Near the end of the 16th century, Kunitsugu Takeda moved the family's main base to the Aizu district. There the art of Daitoryu was secretly taught to the Samurai until the fall of the Shogunate in 1868. It was Sokaku Takeda, in the 19th century, who began teaching Daitoryu to the public. He was born in 1860 and learned Daitoryu from his relatives and from the last minister of the Aizu region - Tanomo Sigo (1830 - 1905). Sokaku Takeda had also studied other martial arts and he incorporated his knowledge of these plus his practical experience into the Daitoryu which he taught to select groups of military officers, police officials and aristocrats. Although he had many students (some estimates are as high as 30, 000), he issued approximately 20 formal teaching licenses.

Contact Info Information on Aiki Ju Jitsu Ju Jitsu was the unarmed combat system used by the samurai in feudal Japan. Different parts of Japan practiced different systems, and a variety of styles developed. In addition, many notable Ju Jitsu practitioners went on to develop and found their own arts. Fundamentally, Karate, Judo, Aikido, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are all developed specializations of Ju Jitsu. Kano Jigoro (the founder of Judo) and Morihei Ueshiba (the founder of Aikido) both studied Ju Jitsu before founding their own arts. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was founded by the Gracie brothers, who learned from Mitsuyo Maeda, who was a student of Kano Jigoro. Karate is a more distant cousin, as it was primarily developed in Okinawa and has a more pronounced Chinese influence. The particular style of Aiki Ju Jitsu practiced by the Ju Jitsu club is similar to a small circle Ju Jitsu, with elements of Shotokan Karate. It involves striking, kicks, break falls, joint locks, takedowns, restraints, throws, kata (forms), grappling and some ground work. We also teach jo staff and board breaking to more experienced students. In addition to the techniques, students find they learn self-discipline, dexterity, control, leadership and they become more physically fit in the process. Extractions: by Russell St. Hilaire Raymond "Duke" Moore was born in San Francisco on April 19, 1915. In his youth he loved boxing and wrestling. In 1941, Duke became a student of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu under Ray Law at the University Ave dojo in Oakland, CA. Ray Law was a blackbelt under Seishiro Okazaki of Hawaii, the founder of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu. Duke excelled at judo and jujitsu, and learned the Kodenkan "boards" (requirements for blackbelt written on woodern boards which hung in the dojo), but was not satisfied with all aspects of the system. Thus, in 1943, he decided to go to New York City and study judo with George Yoshida. While living in New York City, he also used all his spare time to train with jujitsu master Kiyose Nakae. Nakae gave Moore private lessons on two tatami mats in the master's apartment. In 1944, Duke finally won his blackbelt in competition, and it was awarded to him by George Yoshida.
