Extractions: Established in 1968, the Deptartment of Geography Map Library is the largest collection of cartographic material in Saskatchewan. A comprehensive collection of maps, atlases, cartobibliographies, periodicals, air photos, and other reference materials is maintained. The Map Library is extensively used for research, seminars, and teaching purposes by the faculty, students and researchers from various departments of the University. As the centre for cartographic information, it also provides reference and consultation services to other educational institutions, government departments, business community, and the public in general. Extractions: Students deciding to major or concentrate in Geography must meet with Department Chairperson for adviser assignment and orientation. This is not an official program description; please consult the most recent edition of the university catalogue. 36 or 39 Credits as follows: A 21 hour basic core including Geog. 110 or 120; 3 credits in physical geography; 3 credits in cultural geography; 3 credits in geographic techniques; 3 credits in planning; and 6 credits in regional geography courses. Notice: Acceptable substitutes for Geog. 425 or 430 will be jointly determined by student and adviser. When approved in advance by the student's adviser, up to 6 credits of cognate courses in one or two other disciplines may be applied toward the major in Geography. Completion of a concentration in another discipline is required, except for elementary education students. Certain concentrations are especially recommended by the Department, depending on the career program chosen by the student. We also encourage participation in Central's Cooperative Education program.
