Satellite Conferences Of ECM'96 Title Topological Methods in Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems (Onthe 100th anniversary of Professor tadeusz wazewski s birthday) http://www.emis.de/ECM2/satellites.html
Extractions: Topic: Much of the liveliest work in group theory today involves, in some way, the interplay of finite and infinite aspects. Two particular themes are finiteness conditions and growth rates. Techniques from many parts of mathematics are used, and group theory repays its debt with a number of applications. The main topic areas will be: locally finite groups; profinite and residually finite groups; asymptotic group theory; combinatorial and geometric group theory; groups and model theory.

On Thursday, August 5, a guided tour to the former concentration camp in Sachsenhausen is offered. The number of participants is limited to 50. The concentration camp Oranienburg was the first of its kind in Germany. It existed until 1934. Two years later, a new concentration camp was built in the neighboring village of Sachsenhausen. In the first period the prisoners were mostly members of the social-democratic and communist party. In 1939 many Polish citizens were deported to Sachsenhausen, including a group of professors of the University of Cracow, among them Tadeusz Wazewski.

Extractions: This is a list of Mathematics and Statistics collected works that can be found at Dalhousie University and at other Halifax universities. The vast majority of these works are located in the Killam Library on the Dalhousie campus. A guide to other locations is given at the end of this list. If a title is owned by both Dalhousie and another university, only the Dalhousie site is listed. For all locations, and for full bibliographic details, see the NOVANET library catalogue This list was compiled, and the collection is being enlarged, with the invaluable help of the Bibliography of Collected Works maintained by the Cornell University Mathematics Library. The thumbnail sketches of mathematicians were taken from the MacTutor History of Mathematics Archive at the University of St. Andrews.
