Extractions: Feedback Planck, Max spectrum spectrum, arrangement or display of light or other form of radiation separated according to wavelength, frequency, energy, or some other property. Beams of charged particles can be separated into a spectrum according to mass in a mass spectrometer (see mass spectrograph ). Physicists often find it useful to separate a beam of particles into a spectrum according to their energy. Click the link for more information. (distribution of electromagnetic energy according to wavelength) of black body black body, in physics, an ideal black substance that absorbs all and reflects none of the radiant energy falling on it. Lampblack, or powdered carbon, which reflects less than 2% of the radiation falling on it, approximates an ideal black body. Since a black body is a perfect absorber of radiant energy, by the laws of thermodynamics it must also be a perfect emitter of radiation.

Extractions: Albert Einstein who embraced the energy quantum as a genuine advance in radiation theory. Planck was awarded the 1918 Nobel Prize in physics for his work on black-body radiation. He served for a time as editor of the Annalen der Physik. He was a foreign member of the Royal Society (England) and an honorary member of the American Physical Society. During World War II, Planck opposed Nazi policies and suffered considerable hardship. The end of his life was embittered by the execution of his only son for taking part in the abortive attempt on July 20, 1944, to assassinate Adolf Hitler. He died in Gottingen, October 3, 1947.
