Buildings By Sir John Soane In Or Near London London, St stephens Church, Coleman St./ Samuel bosanquet/ Monument to Claudebosanquet/ Destroyed 1940. Worlingham Hall, Suffolk/ Robert Sparrow/ Designs http://www.soane.org/soanebuildings.html
Extractions: A Chronological List of Sir John Soanes Building Projects This list is of the principal architectural works of Sir John Soane. It does not include student projects such as the Triumphal Bridge, nor does it list the many buildings Soane surveyed for leases or for legal cases. Also excluded are the many smaller works which were simply repairs to existing buildings. The date under which a project first appears is the date when Soane started work on the commission. Subsequent building campaigns on the same site are listed in this first entry. Each entry is arranged in the following way - Location/Client/nature of works/outcome To save space the following abbreviations are used: unex.............. alts ...................alterations unex .................unexecuted dem ..................demolished exts ...................extensions ........................not known exec ..................executed Standard County abbreviations are used: Sq .....................Square Pl ......................Place St ......................Street Where the archives left by Soane are not conclusive, or where the physical evidence has been demolished or rebuilt the extent of Soanes contribution or even if the work was executed at all, is sometimes unclear. The use of dem implies that the work was executed and demolished. House dem means that it is not known if the Soane work was executed and the building has been demolished. Sometimes Soanes designs were executed by a local builder and so what was built is a local interpretation of Soanes drawings. Executed does not imply the survival of all or part of a building. Remodelled implies a major remodelling of the building, from which the Soane work may or may not have survived.

Bulletin Issue 24 - Adam Smith Institute Following the publication of Prof Nick bosanquet s A Successful National Health The pensions minister stephen Timms kicked off the proceedings with a http://www.adamsmith.org/policy/bulletin/b24.htm
Extractions: The Adam Smith Institute is about to launch a series of initiatives designed to bring about greater independence from government for the universities. As the first step, the ASI has asked MORI to perform a nationwide poll of students. The poll asks them what it is like to be a student in Britain today. It probes the allocation of their financial resources, and asks them what factors have influenced their career choices. Crucially, the poll attempts to discover whether students would like to see universities have more control over their own affairs, and especially of their finances. The Institute wants to find out whether students think that politicians and bureaucrats are making a good job of running universities, or if they think that universities might make a better job of it themselves. The questions include ones which seek to learn whether or not students think that a university education represents good value, and if they think it is a worthwhile investment. They are asked against a background which has seen the proportion of the age-group going through higher education rise from one in nine when Lady Thatcher took office, to more than one in three when John Major left office.

Apologies for absence were received from Mr George and Miss Fuge (Minutes Secretary). The Chairman said that he was delighted with the recent appointment to the Committee of Mr Geraint George, who would bring special knowledge of social, community and environmental issues in Wales. Unfortunately, Mr George was already committed to attend the Europarc Conference representing Snowdonia National Park, hence his apologies. He will attend the meeting in October. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING The following amendments to the Minutes of the meeting on 30 May were agreed: MATTERS ARISING - Mr Bosanquet asked for clarification on the quorum of four members for the Wales National Committee. Mr Thomas said that GB Secretariat considered that it was reasonable to keep the overall number at three members, one of whom would need to be a non-executive Commissioner (already agreed through the GB Board). He explained that if the Wales National Committee were not happy with this arrangement, it would have to make a case to the GB Board to change the Order of Appointment in accordance with the Forestry Act 1967, Schedule 1, Part 1, paragraph 7. Mr Bosanquet indicated that he was now content with this arrangement.
