Devoted to the music of Bach since her early thirties, this great scholar-performer released her definitive Deutsche Grammophon recording of the Goldberg Variations in 1998, her 84th year. She has found time in the course of a long career for extensive musical research, performances on period and modern instruments and orchestral and choral conducting. Bach for Tureck is "the richest world I can live in, and this is where I want to be". She has created a new piano technique in order to represent Bach's structures and performance practices with uncompromising authenticity and she has recorded her scholarly work in a number of printed editions.
